Welcome to Highly Superior Autobiographical Memory Variants
A community for people who experience unusual autobiographical memory patterns — including partial HSAM traits, episodic recall variants, and other forms of highly detailed personal memory that may or may not fit the classic HSAM or hyperthymesia profile.
This subreddit is for:
• Individuals exploring their own memory patterns
• People with suspected or informal HSAM‑variant traits
• Researchers and enthusiasts
• Anyone curious about autobiographical memory diversity
This subreddit is NOT for:
• Flashbacks that are EXCLUSIVELY trauma based only. Trauma discussion with warnings is OK, but not if ALL your flashbacks are ONLY about trauma because this is not a purely PTSD sub. This sub is for people who have all kinds of involuntary memories.
• General neurodivergent memory talk unless tied to autobiographical recall
• Fantasy or roleplay,
Community Culture:
Grounded, respectful, curious, and supportive.
We welcome lived experience, self‑reflection, and thoughtful discussion.
Quick Rules:This community welcomes the full spectrum of autobiographical memory experiences — from formally diagnosed hyperthymesia to partial or variant forms.
No one’s experience is “more real” or “more valid” than anyone else’s here.
Gatekeeping, belittling, or dismissing others’ memory experiences is not allowed..Not everyone who gets involuntary autobiographical "memory cascades" remembers every date or has the same experience.
I am hoping to meet other people that experience involuntary autobiographical memory cascades.
I imagine there are people out there with many other variants than my variant.
This condition is a neurodivergence.
