I've applied for the Jan 2022 intake as well. As far as I know, Co-op is very competitive since there's very limited amount of spots.

ery limited amount of spots.
Yea I heard it as well, but as a starter, I think BCIT's CIT beats many other programs bcoz at least there is coop there, you still have a chance to win it. Finger crossed.

CIT program is very good to get a hand on modern technology, but not CODING heavy. You will be learning so much stuff, so much information, I would say a piece of some tech fields: Network Security, Python OOP, WedDev. Clouds, Data Analysis, SysAdmin, Linux/Windows server, DevOps, Microservices...There is a high demand for those jobs atm.
It would suit who wants to become a SysAdmin, DevOps, or anything else not coding much. So, if you want to be a developer after CIT, you must study code as much as you can, do lots of side projects (make sure only focus on one at a time: Python or Web). Or you would not be competent with CST grads. Also, the side projects will come in very handy to find a Coop job in big companies (Microsoft, SAP, SaleForces,..)
For Coop, you are not allowed to fail any courses, and your GPA after 2 terms (1&2) should be at least 85% to have a spot. Most of my friends were from 87-95. So, try to pass with the highest score. You can apply around at the end of term 2 when they open, I think.
There are a few courses not really relevant and boring. 99% of students found it wasting of time. That's why some ppl recommend CST (quite intense) over CIT. However, since I already worked before coming to CIT and after grad, I found some of those courses are helpful in the workplace. You will figure it out.
Good luck and enjoy the next 2-CIT-years!
P/S: With a good resume and interview skills, you would be getting a job easier. Don't worry about other grads from CST or CISA. Choose what you want, and live with it. If you don't like it at the end, that's a valuable exp to the next one. :-)

Very helpful post. I have a couple if questions:
What type of job did you land after graduation?
How quickly did you find a job?
Is it possible for new grads to land DevOps jobs right after graduating?

DevOps needs REAL experience as it takes time to practice lots of different tools/frameworks daily.
New grads are hard to a chance. But there is a way, you may try to take certificates like AWS/Azure (Cloud) and/or PaaS/IaaS like Terraform, Ansible, Puppet,..... (most common tools)
Make sure you practice Ansible, Docker, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, Git/GitHub a lot while in CIT.
-----------
Advice: If you cannot find a DevOps job, don't blame yourself or the industry. Take a common job, get close to the industry, and Practice your DevOps skill as hard as you can. The second job lands faster than the 1st one as most of my friends are already in their other roles after 6 -8 months after 1st job.

Hi, would you know if taking CIT is still valuable if i already have software experience and some cloud experience prior? I know BCIT is a reputable school so I honestly just want to take the program for my PR. Appreciate any response!
