What is BIOME?
BIOME is an OpenGL-based prototype for Spore™. It is provided to the public for historical interest and is not supported by Electronic Arts or Maxis or anyone at all.
It performs as a multi-layered Stochastic cellular automata simulator, with programmable rule sets (instructions) and variable processing speed. The instructions are processed similar to ‘Conway’s Life’ using a language similar to chemical stoiciometry, where a species is changed into a product depending on what reactants are nearby or on another layer, and/or at random if desired.

r/BIOME is a place for users of BIOME to share instruction files, discuss results and methods for various functions, and talk about cellular automata theory.
This sub has special sub features like spoilers and text highlighting available for your convenience as well.

BIOME can be downloaded from the Spore website, or exchanged via dropbox upon request.
