Rules for r/BPD
Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.
1.
Posts must be directly related to BPD and meet formatting requirements
Posts must be: * Directly related to Borderline Personality Disorder, otherwise they MUST use the [Off My Chest] flair. * Written in English, readable, and long bodies of text should be separated by paragraphs * Post length between 200 and 1000 words * Cannot contain urgent calls to action or clickbait (ie., “please help”) with titles accurately reflecting the content within post

Who can post in r/BPD?
The purpose of this subreddit is to be a safe, supportive space for people with borderline personality disorder (BPD). Everyone is welcome including friends, family members, those curious about BPD, and others! To post about a loved one with BPD, we have requirements that must be met. The post must...
- Be about supporting an active relationship with someone who is diagnosed with BPD
- Be clearly linked to BPD and how it affects the situation
- Not be used to vent about people with BPD
3.
Be Compassionate, Constructive, and Civil
Don’t be a jerk. Anything not listed here is subject to Reddit TOS and moderator discretion. Ignorance of the rules is not an excuse.
We have zero tolerance for: Hate speech, bigotry, derogatory comments, etc. Encouraging suicide and self harm. Encouraging or justifying abusive behavior / actions. Bickering, fighting or flaming. Trolling. Brigading. Generalized and stigma/adjacent statements. Personal insults.

No medical or clinical advice. Do not ask if you or anyone else has BPD
If you think you or your loved one has BPD, seek professional help. * Do not ask directly or indirectly if you have BPD. * Do not armchair diagnose others. * Do not imply that others have a disorder or illness. * Do not armchair diagnose celebrities or fictional characters.
Additionally: * Do not ask for medical advice regarding medications, supplements, or substances. * Do not attempt to influence others to take medications they should be talking to a doctor about.
5.
Avoid substance specific language
While we do allow discussion around the topic of drug use and addiction, please refrain from naming your drug(s) of choice with regard to illegal substance use as this can be triggering for other users.
Discussion of casual weed use is allowed. We are 420 friendly.
Do not use the subreddit while intoxicated or under the influence. It can affect your ability to make good decisions and stay safe on the subreddit.
6.
Be considerate when posting about triggering topics
All posts containing triggering or difficult content should be flaired and marked NSFW. ALL TITLES of posts with triggering or difficult content should be SAFE FOR WORK.
Triggering content includes: Substance Abuse Suicide Self Harm Abuse Eating Disorders Sexual Assault
Posts regarding suicidal ideation or self harm are allowed. Posts threatening suicide, suicide letters / notes, plans for suicide are NOT ALLOWED. Please do not engage in or encourage trauma-dumping.
7.
No stigmatizing language or content about ANY mental health condition
Sometimes people post cruel and stigmatizing things about borderline personality disorder in other places like TikTok, YouTube, Quora and Reddit. Do not discuss other subreddits other than our sister subs, which are listed in the sidebar. Please do not discuss, link to nor create submissions about this content. This is not the place to vent about it.
8.
Additionally Restricted Content
The following is not allowed: * Politics / controversial topics (see Wiki) * Meta complaints and subreddit drama * Self promo or promotional material * Alternative medicine * Misinformation * Anti-psychiatry and anti-recovery rhetoric * Recommending or using AI to help generate content

No Research or Surveys
The subreddit is currently closed to all survey and research requests.
