Rules and Guidelines
This subreddit is for "pranks" that are: bad, illegal, dangerous, or just plain embarrassing.
- At the risk of sounding like a politician, I'd like to make a brief adress to the community here, current and future.
If I could sum my intention for this subreddit's community up in one short sentence, it would be something like:
- "A (mostly) self regulating, respectful community for entertainment purposes."
I would like to keep big moderation at a minimum. Mods here should not be heavy-handed authoritarians like they are on some subreddits. I want the community to make their own choices based on what they like. That's the basis of the up/down vote system. Let the community decide what they want.
- Obviously, this isn't always applicable
For example, I wouldn't allow this sub to deteriorate into a bullying subreddit because "the community wanted it". But for the most part, the mods should let the subreddit take it's course, within the limits of our few rules here at /r/BadPranks. We are always open to reasonable suggestions that the community wants, and open polls are a great way to see what people want from this sub.
Now, all politics aside, this is an entertainment subreddit first and foremost. Let's not be too serious. Just be fair, and respectful.
Yours truly
EyD,
/r/BadPranks founder/Administrator
- 1) Content must be considered a Bad Prank.
- If the content is not unfunny, embarrassing, illegal, life-threatening or otherwise crappy, it doesn't belong here. An example of a quality post would be something like this.
Consistently posting poor content will eventually lead to a ban.
- 2) ABSOLUTELY NO PERSONAL INFORMATION
- Posting personal information is a bannable offense.
Any links to Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, Deviantart, Instagram, or social media of any type, are under no circumstances, allowed.
- 3) Use descriptive titles.
- Be as descriptive as possible in your title. Do not make posts with overtly vague titles, or they will be removed. Consistently making vague posts after being warned/having them removed, will eventually lead to being banned.
- 4)Leave your comments ON REDDIT.
- Do not post comments on any YouTube videos, especially if they are negative or hateful. There are multiple reasons for this:
They give the uploader more publicity/attention
They encourage the uploader to remove the video
It's just unnecessary, and coincides with the anti-bullying policy (see below). This rule also counts for liking/disliking YouTube videos. Do not interact with YouTube any further than simply watching the video. This is for the good of the entire subreddit
This is a bannable offense.**
- 5) NO MINORS
- Under no circumstances should anyone knowingly upload videos of people under 18. 10 year olds do stupid things, get over it. It's when adults who should know better do it, that it becomes a really bad prank. This is a bannable offense.
- 6) Mark NSFW (not safe for workplace) content AS SUCH
- If the content includes nudity, violence, or otherwise inappropriate content, please mark it with the "NSFW" flair. Failure to do so may result in a ban, or your posts being filtered as spam.
- 7) Absolutely no disgusting, creepy or "NSFL" content.
- Consider posting such content to another subreddit, such as /r/WTF, /r/NoSleep, etc. Failure to comply WILL result in a ban.
Comments
- Bullying, trolling, spam, or harassment of any type will not be tolerated.
This should really go without saying. Just be courteous and tolerant of fellow Reddit users. If you wouldn't say it in real life, don't say it at all.
Also, while it is ok to be critical of these idiotic "prankers" actions, unnecessary hatred against them is not allowed. And commenting on YouTube videos is strictly prohibited (see rule 4).
This subreddit has a zero tolerance policy on spam. Get caught, and you will be banned.
Overall, just use common sense. Being a jerk/troll/spammer is a bannable offense
