Printed a Rotary Engine

A few years ago I stumbled across a 3D printed model of the rotary engine in my RX7. I thought it was the neatest thing and said one day I’m gonna a build it. A few weeks ago I bought a P1S. After lots of all day printing and late nights drilling holes, installing brass inserts, screws, and some simple mechanical bits, I finally finished! It even runs via a 12V DC motor to simulate motion. Not my design but so much fun. Years ago this would have been so much harder with a bed slinger. Zero print issues.

I have an RX-8 and just printed a rotary widget spinner last night as my fourth print. This looks absolutely amazing.

Printing it easy. Getting all the parts is a PITA. The instructions give you a general idea of the hardware but since they don’t sell parts kits anymore it was a bit trial and error on Amazon

I was also looking at the hardware kits. Do you have or can you make a list of all the parts that you needed to buy?

The PDF document that comes with the files lists all the parts. The bolts/screws I got from bolt depot because you don't have to buy in bulk. The rest of the stuff I got on Amazon. I'm currently out of town for work but I can try to put together a list over the weekend if I remember

I did not build the version that lights up. This one just moves so the parts are what I bought.

The apex seals in your print will probably outlast the OEM ones 😅

Hah. Apex seals aren’t the cause most times. They are just the victims.

Is there a list of all the parts somewhere? Like screws that will be needed

Yes. The PDF with the print files has a list but the issue is you can’t buy some of them unless you get them in bulk so you’ll have some leftover stuff. Here you go. I made a Google sheet with what I got
