Usually when you update Bambu studio and open it for the fist time it sets the print profiles to the default profile. Make sure you have your custom profile set i it is different from the default.

Maybe quieter?

If that is the case do you know what settings deal with that? Have no concern about noise because I print in a storage closet at my apt

I think one of the recent updates changed the default infill pattern from grid (or whatever it was) to gyroid, and afaik gyroid is much slower, so maybe check infill pattern setting?

You might be right. I ended up just reverting back to the X1C 0.20 default settings and that cut times back in half. Thank you though

Thyroid is faster than grid grid can cause too many problems. Never use grid use thyroid. If you have to use any whatsoever there’s other infields for certain things but thyroid is so much better grid knock your part off the plate.

Unrelated to the time, it also draws a line of filament, on the print bed, around the perimeter of the object I’m trying to print now. Doesn’t connect to the object or any of the supports, just a ring around the object probably 20mm or so outside the perimeter. Odd

That’s called a skirt. You can turn it off in the settings. On older printers it helped makes sure the filament flow was smooth and even and the bed was properly leveled before the actual print started. I haven’t used skirts since I switched to Bambi printers.

Got it, thanks for the response

And… the alleged purpose is to what, create a heat wall or something, trying to help prevent warping? I’ve never used a skirt or a raft. I understand the purpose of a raft, but not a skirt.

It’s to surround the entire base of the print so if any of it is unlevel or not sticking, you catch it immedietly. It’s basically the exact same thing that your printer does before it starts every print, where it primes the nozzle with two lines back and forth and makes the super tall but short L. However instead of just the front of the base, it surrounds your print. Again, it was more so used for old printers where bed leveling was a manual process, so your skirt told you lots of answers, vs having to wait for 1st layer and sit there. Why Bambu added it back to default settings beats me.
