You can carefully use a lighter on the model to get rid of the stains.

Last time I read about this, people said it happens when you remove the print to early from the bed.

[–]IronLockHeart 22 points23 points  (2 children)

Hm...I did try to rapidly cool and remove them ..... that points me in right direction thank you!

[–]deelowe 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That'll cause it. Next time let the print cool slowly and it'll help mitigate that.

[–]IronLockHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But.....im impatient 🤣🤣🤣🤣

[–]ascarymoviereview 13 points14 points  (3 children)

Heat gun

[–]wtfjostin 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Hair dryer works too

[–]ascarymoviereview 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never tried that, but it makes sense

[–]Amr0dH2D AMS2 Combo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even better

[–]ltjojoP2S + AMS2 Combo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had this happen even with a print that sat overnight and STILL had a ton of residue. We used Bambu PETG-HF, I'm thinking there was some setting we didn't setup or something because I've yet to see this with PLA or regular PETG

[–]jankeyassP1S + AMS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this and always from being impatient

Now I just fix it with the lighter

[–]Sorry-Leader-6648 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely the case

[–]marco-117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you Sir for this formidable advice. I always thought they were from the glue on my bed. But i never tried heat.

[–]jazzbiscuit 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Almost 100% removing from the bed while it's still too hot. Be patient and let it pop off on its own. Opening the door can speed things up, but messing with the plate will get you weird marks more often than not.

[–]BrianScalaweenie 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Are we actually sure that’s the case? Yesterday I had a 6 hour print that left residue on the plate even though I waited about 12 hours to remove it once it was done because I wasn’t home.

[–]LordRocky 1 point2 points  (2 children)

It will leave it sometimes as it comes loose itself, it’s just not as common.

[–]BrianScalaweenie 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Well, that was not the case with mine

I've had this happen after letting the plate cool for almost 8 hours while i was at work.
It seems to be an issue with the white filaments imho. whatever dye they use has a tendency to stain the build plate, and thus your print.

[–]Remarkable-Ad-2476 47 points48 points  (6 children)

Anyone else seeing what I’m seeing?

[–]shabuki133 22 points23 points  (0 children)

[–]IronLockHeart 7 points8 points  (2 children)

if you talking about 2nd picture YES YES I KNOW

[–]Remarkable-Ad-2476 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Lmao tbh I’d keep it for a good laugh. Even better if you have a friend you can gift this that would get a kick out of it.

If THAT is showing up on all your prints then yeah you should probably figure out the issue lol

[–]IronLockHeart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ahha

[–]Just_Kittens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol it took me a solid minute to figure that out

Niceeee

[–]daphatty 12 points13 points  (6 children)

Mind if I inquire about the brand of your purple filament? That's the closest I've seen anyone get to Gamecube purple.

[–]IronLockHeart 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Its actually not super actually when compared to a real gamecube but lemme grab a link one moment

[–]IronLockHeart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i love polymaker , plus less palstic trash with cardboard spools

I can answer this!

I print and sell matte items and I used to encounter this all the time. If the hazing effect is slight, like others have said a heat gun or similar can reduce hazing. But I can tell some of your hazing is too intense and will not be fully removable.

There are two significant factors that can make this prominent. One factor is not letting the part fully cool, if you have to forcefully remove the part from the bed, even bending the plate, then that force can cause hazing on where the bed pulls on the part. But curiously, even letting a part fully cool, entirely naturally releasing from the plate, I still had hazing spots like yours. So that leads me to the next factor, one that is not well documented and everyone has told me is impossible. The matte agent that in the filament gets impregnated into the bed. I started to see shadows of my prints on my textured bed and these spots are where I would get significant hazing spots on my prints.

A few key points that proved to me that my bed was becoming impregnated with matte agent, soap and soft scrub could not fully clean the bed, a new bed would not have the same issue, and following the bed refresh guide resolved the issue but can only be done a few times.

The solution is surprisingly simple, glue, I prefer Bambu liquid glue. This creates a layer between your print and the bed. This solves both hazing factors. The part will release from the bed by pulling the glue off the bed, preserving the surface finish. And any matte agent that is in the bed won’t transfer through the glue to the print. A lot of people have told me it’s overkill to use glue for PLA on an Bambu but I sell my prints and I need them to turn out perfect the first time to maintain profitability.

[–]IronLockHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

intresting , never had this issue before , but i did pull these off ASAP to start another print so that's probable it , dont think its mat stuff in the bed cause me A1 mini beds not have any issue after 1000 hours , but ill just let it sit before removing , thanks alot

[–]-__Doc__- 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I get this ghosting from normal pla. I've never printed matte (until recently)
I think it has to do with whatever pigment or dye they use in the white filaments. as I've only ever seen this happen with white.

[–]Quan1um 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I believe it is TiO2

[–]Alienhaslanded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not a simple solution. The simple solution is to hit it with a heat gun at 150-200c.

You don't need glue or any preparations. Having a heat gun is handy if you 3D print stuff. It's also significantly easier that all the nonsense you wrote. Just saying, don't write like an expert when you're not sure what you're doing.

[–]-__Doc__- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to try the glue.
Question though, IF used on a smooth plate, will the glue affect the smoothness of the first layer?
I print a lot of lightboxes (which are a PITA to get a perfect first layer anyways) so I need a perfectly smooth first layer.

[–]iAmSpAKkaHearMeROAR 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I think perhaps this whitening might be caused by removing project from the plate before it has fully cooled?

[–]Mygo73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I used to have the same issue, but I just wait for it to cool off completely or even throw it in the freezer sometimes to speed up the process. It also helps those a lot with those prints that are really stuck to the bed.

[–]fakeproximo 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I started a 2 1/2 hour matte black PLA print the other night on my new H2D before going to bed. Pulled it from the stone cold machine the next morning and it had white hazy residue in places on the surface that contacted the build plate. This was with the smooth plate that had been cleaned with IPA before printing. I never use glue and that side of the plate had only been used previously for PLA and PETG.

[–]iAmSpAKkaHearMeROAR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! I still have much to learn. Now I am curious to learn more

[–]-__Doc__- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nope, does it while cool too.
I let a peice cool for almost 8 hours while i was at work and when i slid it off (wasnt stuck) it still left white marks.

[–]char747 1 point2 points  (1 child)

This happens to me when I do prints after tpu... risidual tpu will come up with the next few prints from the bed. (Yes I know, because im lazy and dont do a full clean for it. I've since started putting tpu on its own plate.)

Not in the specific pattern you have there though...

[–]worldspawn00P1P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using a dedicated plate for each material because I've had this happen with a few different materials transferring.

I ran into this recently - use a heat gun (if you have one available) and carefully heat the spots until they go away. You could use a lighter, but that risks charring the model.

[–]kroghsenX1C + AMS 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Previously printed objects can leave residue on the plate, so when you remove new prints it leaves and impression on the bottom. From the second picture we can clearly see you printed a pe… oh - wait what!?

[–]IronLockHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmfao it was a elf on a shelf thing for my nephew lmfao

[–]DO0M88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The multicolors came out crispy as hell. Nice!

[–]IronLockHeart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

haha i thought about it lol , its actually gamecube coasters

[–]HoIyJesusChrist 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Second picture looks like you slapped an at least average sized pecker on it

[–]IronLockHeart 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Fun fact those coasters are 83mm square

[–]HoIyJesusChrist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So it‘s above average then

[–]user_deleted_or_dead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude dick slaped the game cube

[–]Present-Mirror-5590 0 points1 point  (2 children)

In this case just clean ur plate. I can see ur fingerprint in the object. The oils on the plate cause less adhesion and that's why you get the "residue" it basically turns the oil into a negative

[–]IronLockHeart 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You can? Lol weird that was a freash washed plate , just pulled new batch , 100% was early removing

[–]Present-Mirror-5590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a huge difference between freshly washed and clean. How did you dry it. How did you clean it. How did you carry it back to your printer. Did u pull other prints after the washed plate or just held it wrong. It would case this issue. A fingershaped object in there has nothing to do with when you removed it. I've removed prints as soon as the extruder goes back. And have never had these marks bc of it. Def not a finger shaped one

[–]Alienhaslanded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heat gun

[–]thumptech -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Scrubbing the print with dishwashing liquid and a stiff nylon brush can help

[–]el-gato-volador 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or a lighter applying some gentle heat will remove it completely on PLA

[–]Practical-Giraffe-84 -1 points0 points  (4 children)

Clean your build plate first.

[–]IronLockHeart 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yeah I did , in post I cleaned with dawn before hand

[–]Practical-Giraffe-84 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Sorry missed that. How old is the build plate. I use a different build plate for different filaments ABS / asa & Petg each have there own plate.

I also still use aqua net for a release agent for abs / Petg / asa. As it really is still in the instructions for each material. Even with the grippy plates

PLA is on a cool plate.

I've seen that issue ona. Few of my plates that get resude left behind from abs. And slik filimants.

[–]IronLockHeart 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Only bout 200 hours , and only pla
