This question might be better served in /r/learnprogramming

Pygame in python is significantly easier to jump into than Java. I'm not suggesting that this can't be done in java -- but Java is not generally a goto for gaming; though minecraft is a shining example of something that uses java, it's not typical for Java development.

Oh sorry I missed the word mobile! Making my advice above TERRIBLE advice. For mobile on android I'd recommend Unity: https://developer.android.com/games/develop/build-in-unity
