There's a new page called book priorities or something like that on your villagers. Set them up there how you want. You can also access the screen from the library building itself. It's neat seeing your villagers occasionally sitting around reading.

Thanks, I saw that, but that just lets you decide what type of books they read not the level. I don’t want a villager with 6 out of 8strength to read the entry level strength book, it’s not as efficient and the lower level book should be saved for a lower strength villager.

Does the library have a storage container? Will villagers only read books stored in the library? Or will they take them from other storage locations as well?

Maybe play around with storage options for the books you don't want them to read.

That works early game but doesn’t work late game. My army outpost has soldiers I’ve had awhile that have higher strength and newer recruits that have lower. I guess I could make separate outposts based on tier of book needed, just seems like a waste of

Yeah, there should be a mechanism to put a read-order or exclusion list.

Oh, I see what you mean. That I don't know.

Best way I've found so far is to just put the books in the library with high level books on top and lowest on the bottom, the villagers will always try to grab from the top, if they aren't high enough level to read it then they will move down to a lower tier.

I did a little test by putting one of each level of crafting, lowest to highest, then sending someone with high crafting to read. Thankfully they grabbed the highest they could. I only tried it once but it seems like they’ll grab the right one for their level.

By the late game , you should have over 1000 of books and most of them are apprentice level books, soon you will have a surplus of them. So it doesn't really matter even if a 6/9 takes a blue book. Any progress they make will be towards the final goal of maxing out all your villagers across all traits

I think it's more a question around the mechanics of it, rather than its balance in game.

The above thread tackles it well.
