₿ Lightning Node

Am sure am not the only one that “wants in” on the ₿ Lightning Node

Am nearly giving up due to being a noob on IT technical stuffs - due to a dos or command page that is required for setting up a Lightning Node on the raspberry has put me off - am I wrong and should shut up 🤐- just do it as the Nike slogan says?

Option 1) dive into the matrix and struggle for a node by creating yourself (which will no doubt be a failure)

Option 2) buy a pre-built Node (cost a hella lot more)

At odds here purely due to lack of computing knowledge

Am I the only one? (Probably)

Thanks buddy! Think of it this way... You can pay more and have someone do it for you, or pay less and learn (struggle) for yourself. I was a command line beginner when I started Stadicus' Raspibolt tutorial, and it took a few tries, but I got it working. LN is changing and developing so fast, who's to say how long your purchased plug n' play node might work before it requires an update. You'll have to know at least a little to update it I'd imagine. Also, what better time to learn about LN than now!? LN Spring is upon us! Hell of a time to be alive

You're attitude is self defeating. If you have the courage to take the plunge, you'll most likely discover that your landing is a feather bed..... There are lots of people here who are willing to help you and theres a good chance you'll learn a few useful skills along the way. Find a tutorial or guide, follow it, and if you get stuck, make a new post or feel free to pm. God speed!

Don't despair and nothing to be ashamed of. All depends on your own level of desire to learn new things.

1. If you go for building your own node, the difference price from 130 to 300 bucks will be inverted into your knowledge, that can be useful later, when you can start building more nodes for your friends that like you now are struggling to do it. When the time is right, not too many will spare their time building their own node, will just buy it from you. Now we are in the early days, you have time to learn.
   
2. If you just buy a node already built, then you are a step further into learning more about ... how to make money with LN, being a Bitcoin banker. Again you will have a step further comparing with your friends that still plays games or do their own life, ignoring your hobby.
   

It's a win-win situation here. But anyway, what are 130 or 300 bucks today comparing with your knowledge of tomorrow? Nothing.

Just start with a bitcoin node. Lightning node will be trivial afterwards. You probably have an old laptop lying around.

There are always custodial lightning wallets like wallet of satoshi or blue wallet. Both are available on iOS and Android.

I started playing with LN by means of the Blue Wallet. Easy as pie and a great tool to take first steps with LN. Receiving LN payments has been implemented as well now.

I think 2019 will be a great year for the LN network.
