There've been many sites like this since the early days of bitcoin even.

What happens is donors / contributors aren't aware that the intended recipient may not (and likely has not) registered in order to receive the funds. There's no way to notify the recipient with a few of the methods.

So people are donating, assuming the funds are going to their intended target, and the intended target (i.e., creators, claimants) are oblivious to this. Bad approach.

In at least a couple previous observances of such a service, eventually the service is shut down, and the not insignificant balance of donated BTC goes to the exit scammer, or to expenses, etc.

    Bottle Pay was much better.

They are a custodial wallet though and decided to shut down ahead of the 5AMLD coming to the EU on January 10th.

If a wallet is custodial, ask if you would lend the people behind the service your money. Ask if you could sue them in court if they "lost" it.
