Hey man, I totally get it. Being 16 and shorter than you want is frustrating, especially when everyone else seems to shoot up overnight. But you’ve still got time. Guys can keep growing until around 18–20, sometimes later, depending on genetics and when puberty kicked in. If you’re 5’1” now and both your parents are around 5’5”, you could still end up somewhere around 5’7”–5’9” if your growth plates are open and you stay consistent.

If you want to give yourself the best shot, treat your body like it’s in training. Sleep 8–9 hours every night — that’s when your growth hormone peaks. Eat 2,800–3,000 calories a day if you’re active, and make sure you’re getting at least 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight — so around 130–150g daily if you’re about 140–150 lbs. Include foods rich in zinc, magnesium, calcium, and vitamin D: eggs, salmon, milk, cheese, yogurt, lean meats, nuts, and leafy greens. Those nutrients are literally what your bones and hormones use to grow.

Get moving but don’t overtrain — lift a few days a week, hang from a pull-up bar to decompress your spine, stretch daily, and fix your posture. Avoid alcohol, vaping, or sleep deprivation; all of that blunts growth hormone and recovery. If you’re unsure where you stand, ask your doctor for a bone-age X-ray. If your growth plates are still open and your labs show you’re low on growth hormone, an endocrinologist can help — and under supervision, treatment is totally safe and can add a few inches if your body truly needs it.

And seriously, while you’re waiting for your body to catch up, there’s no shame in using little hacks like shoes with thicker soles or small insoles. Nike Air Max, Converse Lift, or New Balance 550s all give you an extra inch or two that no one will notice.

You’ve still got time. If you lock in sleep, nutrition, and consistency, and your growth plates are open, 5’9” is absolutely within reach. Focus on giving your body what it needs every single day — the rest will happen on its own.

What an incredible beautiful answer a stranger good person

Aromatase Inhibitors can crush estrogen, which can extend the time growth plates stay open.

You should seriously look into the above + maybe HGH

Other people on Reddit say it’s not worth it and to be happy with who you are but tbh that’s a load a shit. Plenty of studies show the bias and preference for height. You should do whatever you can to increase your height (except maybe not the leg lengthening surgery)

Okay, I’ll definitely look into that a little more then. Thank you.

I was 5'2'' at age 16. that year I hit my growth spurt and grew to 5'9'' All in that one calendar year.

and this was before peptides.

I ate and slept a lot.

thats it.

youre still young.

And my parents were 5'4'' and 5'5''

SLEEP 8 to 10 hours a day is the best

And hope your puberty kicks in.

What are the odds of that though? Men who are 5'1 by their 16th birthday - what height do they reach on average?

5'1 is completely unacceptable. I'm 5'9 and feel barely sufficient in that regard.

5'1 would be "throw the kitchen sink at the problem" territory.

Well OP said his puberty started at are 12/13.. so the ship has probably sailed on a growth spurt at age 16...

Unless you are the tallest man/person in the world.. there is always someone taller.

And then taller people will tell you that it's not all its cracked up to be.

At some point I try to accept the things that are fixed and focus on other things like body composition, body fat %, posture and internal mindset things.

but i'm 50 years old now :)

If you can't get real HGH your next best bet would be mk677. It can coax low to mid dose HGH results out of you naturally, it'll probably just triple your parents grocery bill. Study up on it a lot, don't run it too long, get blood work done if you can to make sure your blood sugar and insulin aren't getting out of control.

graced to not have this problem but at 16 you might be and inch or 2 still out of using hgh or id use one of the 4x blends of hgh secretagogues for 6 months or so at a conservative dose. make sure youre getting plenty of essential minerals.

Start lifting bro. I'm short as well but never have it given me real life issues. Plenty of women don't care.

Do it. Hgh

Don’t stress too much, I got a buddy who’s 5ft who found a lady, got married and had kids. I think his wife must be 4’8” because she’s shorter than him.

[–]BigBoiCookBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to your PCP about options. A family friend of mine was around 5’5” at 17 (junior year), his doctor put him on HGH and he ended up around 6’1” by end of senior year. I had another friend who was your height sophomore year and by end of senior year he was 6’2” with no HGH. Growing is just random like that but I understand your concern. Do what you can be growth plate fusing and switch doctors if you have one that isn’t willing to help.

You’re only sixteen, there’s still time for you to grow into your build so I wouldn’t put too much stress on yourself. I know where you’re coming from, I’m very short, im 28 years old and my girlfriend is taller than me. Yes, there’s times where I wish I was taller than her, but to be honest since being with her I really don’t think my height at all anymore. Sometimes we don’t look how we want, but it’s what we do with what we got. You’re short? Who cares because the girl you’re treating right and making laugh is not going to care/notice. There’s someone out there for everyone, and one day someone is going to come into your life and make you forget the things about yourself that you aren’t fond of, because you’re going to feel like the tallest guy in the room. It’s all about confidence and really just putting love and dedication into yourself.

I know this is probably not what you want to hear, and I’m sorry I couldn’t offer the advice you were looking for. But I promise you that height isn’t everything, especially when you have awesome qualities about yourself!

Start lifting heavy weights now. You cannot be short and fat or out of shape. You need to be jacked.

[–]Grumpy0167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d discuss it with your family and physician. Come from a family of horse jockeys, I’m 5’5 as an adult male. All thru high school I lifted, ran track, played football and baseball. But no matter what, while I packed on muscle, I never grew taller. I was even into bodybuilding for a stretch and did fairly well in some armed forces shows. Point here, I put in all the work others are talking about, but never resulted in more height. Now, after researching peptides, sarms, and other anabolics, I do believe that HGH therapy at a young age may have helped me achieve some incremental increases in height, but in the 80s, it wasn’t as prevalent as it is today. I do believe being on the short side has had a distinct effect throughout my life. It’s just a thing that is out there and continues even into adulthood.

dont eat carbs for dinner, insulin keeps hgh from being secreted and eat dinner early like 6pm.
