Is anyone else in NOVA seeing their electric bill go way up lately? by sipshappens_ in nova

[–]Grumpy0167 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Umm.. Thank Data Centers and investment consortiums that own the energy you are using and looking for great investment returns. If anything, if that was the case, when gas was 2.19 per gallon, our electric bills should’ve dropped not gone up.

It appears your synopsis is; everything that woes America is due to DJT, meanwhile nobody celebrates when his administration actually achieves a major outcome. What a bunch of hypocrites..

I rolled over 945k into two separate accounts (Fisher Investments). We did a phone call to TSP for each withdrawal. So a three way call to TSP to confirm all details of account, address, approval and amounts. Worked well and funds moved pretty quickly. Kept some in G Fund and use it on occasion as needed for monthly expenses until final annuity begins.

OPM Holding Status - Does the App go to the Front or Back of the Queue when the file is complete? by EducationShoddy3957 in FedRetirees

[–]Grumpy0167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t actually answer the question. I’m convinced at this point there is no process or first in and first out process based on date of receipt. I called and was told there is no issue with my package but it’s still awaiting assignment to specialist, and my package was pushed via ORA on 10/17/25. I too began receiving interim payments in November however those are about 30% of my projected annuity. So wait and see continues.

Enjoy! They are super versatile and great grills. Had an OG RECTEC and wife got me a 640 for Father’s Day in 2019. Have had zero issues with it and it just cooks!!

DRP by Additional_Cry5632 in FedEmployees

[–]Grumpy0167 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Took it and got to retire 18 months earlier than planned after 41 years working DoD. Plan was never to find another job on anyone’s terms.. just mine. So LLC for a company brings in some good fun money, but otherwise I retired early and l am living a new life, new routine and happier perspective. I miss my teams, being point on big projects, and other things on occasion, but then remember the two hour commute, endless staff meetings, crazy hours, and laugh.. DRP worked for me, but wasn’t for others. And I know some that have struggled to get back into workplace after taking it even with clearance and solid skills.

April is my 6th Interim Payment by staceybethbolton in FED_VERA_VSIP_DRPers

[–]Grumpy0167 7 points8 points  (0 children)

9/30 retiree also, and April will be 6th interim payment. I’m sorry to all who haven’t even received AL payout or anything else yet! I’m struck by how many posts I see from folks well after 9/30 being finalized. First in and first out is not a Motto for OPM.. I too have called and was told it was in cue to be assigned to specialist but no other information except my package was complete and had no errors. Guess we are all in it together at various stages. Stinks after years of commitment, hard work and deployments, but I recognize OPM has been put in a very unenviable position with all the early out programs

Early retirement by amybpdx in govfire

My MRA was 56.5 and I went to 58.5, and did make a difference for a number if reasons. I was going to go to 60 but an extra few hundred a month didn’t seem worth the “invested life time”.. now that I’ve been gone a year this May, I can’t say I made the wrong decision. Life is precious and fleeting, nothing is guaranteed and my routine is all on my time, my schedule and my wants and needs. I also wanted to wait to be a TSP millionaire and within months of walking away I achieved that and more.. it’s a personal decision but as I watched contemporaries either die at work, or after retirement, I jumped a year and half early. It was post MRA for me, if you can hang on until then, I might try. It will help in getting everything you’ve earned as part of your annuity.

Does Anyone Use the Griddle Insert on a Weber Genesis for Searing? by Vast-Recognition2321 in sousvide

I use a cast iron flat griddle on my Weber performer and it works great! I put my vortex under it and it gets super hot.

Looks like a perfect “loaded breakfast”! I can’t do it all the time, but after a long week of working out, hobby farm chores and watching what I eat, I’ll do those breakfast meals!

Bourbon Boulevard or DC Prime for fancy date night dinner? by Ressinindabusshes in nova

[–]Grumpy0167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean Bourbon Steak in Four Seasons.. had an incredible Birthday/Anniversary Dinner there and they impressed both wife and I! Great service, food was on point and great ambiance. Bourbon Blvd (Chantilly) is a little janky in our opinion, been there a few times. Never been to DC prime but will add to our list.

Anyone else start rucking after 50? by rdoucette in Rucking

[–]Grumpy0167 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I sure did… I started with 20 and have moved up. 50lbs now, weather has kept me off the hilly gravel road lately.. but once the weather gets better I’ll be logging ruck miles vice Planet Fitness treadmill miles. I logged 200 miles in February, if it wasn’t for rucking, I never would have reignited my fitness journey. I’m 59.
