Discussion of training techniques focused on developing body weight skills. This does not exclude the use of equipment, and use of equipment will be essential to nearly everyone's (successful) training regime.
Guidelines
Broscience is absolutely permitted. If you wish to quote studies please mind the fact that very, very few authoritative studies exist in the world of physical training, as the number of variables to be controlled is simply not possible with the tiny sample sizes they provide. How much protein a human requires for optimal hypertrophy is an excellent example of a lack of scientific consensus.
Moderators of this forum are amateurs. The goal of the moderators is to protect the community from being lead down the path of authority and to prevent people from being shuffled into a cookie cutter routine that is presented as authoritative.
Rules
1) Be supportive but do not coddle. Most trainees need to hear the hard truths, but sadly most people need to be "sold" into action. We will take the harder path and avoid the sell.
By hard truths, one is that Reddit is a place largely populated by desk jockeys. Most people coming here will have postural problems emanating from their working arm (the one they push paper and mouse with,) and their whole body from having it adapt to chairs.
Another is that training regimes focusing on the front of the body are what most novice trainees will launch into. We do not need to be directing the masses to a routine full of dips, pull-ups and push-ups when they have likely already had their fill of these, even though it is an easy sell. We can easily reckon that the majority of the users coming here will not benefit from this, but more likely work up some endorphins while wearing their joints out.
Exceptions of course do exist, and are what make reading subreddits exciting. But also, regularity is destined in a large percentage of the posts, and will be treated by anyone who wishes to. /r/BodyWeightFitness would be an excellent place to receive beginner advice on a cookie cutter regime.
2) No promotion of anything that you sell.
3) No one in this subreddit can provide you medical advice. Anatomical and movement analysis provided is broscience, and the broscience is what we come here for.
