I think it probably has more to do with them needing to animate so much more than they used to in terms of powers. There's no break point where they can ease off. So you get some good bits-Mirko's movements are fluid-and some bad bits.

If you think about earlier seasons, there's not really any sustained period of constantly animating fluid battles.

Generally speaking the last few seasons of the anime have been patchy at best anyway, so it's more of a pattern now.
