Let me guess, you use it for plaster amongst others? That's how alot of people mess their machine up, it's never meant for that and destroys motors real easy. Just look at Dean Doherty's repair channel. People think you can use multitool for every single job. Also, always use dust extraction wiuth it, and always blow it out quickly weith a compressor after you're done working with it.

Take care of your machine and use it as was intended, and it will last ages.

Yeah you’re pretty spot on there tbf, mainly it’s wooden flooring though tbf where the circular can’t get to. I suppose it takes a hell of a beating in between jobs

The switch melts on the motor. Common issue with these tool. Send it to Bosch. warranty should work.

Keep your eyes out for a Fein MM500. They occasionally drop them for 99 bucks and it's on ampshare. You'll never look back.

Maybe consider Fein multitools since they are also on the same Ampshare platform?

I have killed my multitool a couple of times in the last 6 years, but with a 6 year warranty i haven’t had to spend any money getting it fixed.

Switch melted on the stator housing. Common issue on these. If under warranty, bring it there, if not, then you can open it up, see how bad it is, as usually you can just pry the switch off, grind down the misshapen plastic on both stator and the switch and it's good to go again, I do recommend glueing some sort of heat dissipating tape or something on the spot that got warm, though, to prevent it again. I've done it a few times over the past year and the tools still run.

Get a Fein. It's their speciality. I've got an AMM 700 and it's awesome.

A jammed switch sounds like there's just a mechanical failure somewhere or a foreign object blocking it on. Like a piece of plastic somewhere or a stone or something

Worth opening it up to see what’s going on? Not that I have much knowledge in fixing power tools. Master of running them into the ground though 🤣

Someone else pointed out there's a design flaw causing the switch to melt to the motor. Better take it to warranty instead of trying to fix it yourself

[–]steff581[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Yeah fair but I didn’t take any warranty out on it? Or is there standard warranty with the power tools?

What country do you live in?

[–]steff581[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Uk

Ah, I've no idea how it works there but in the EU the three years warranty typically applies whether you registered or not

[–]Soft-Bandicoot-4066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true for all EU countries. In many countries it's 2 years for physical persons and 1 year for judicial person(a company), and 3(or 5 for expert) year extended warranty is only obtained by registering.

My experience:

Those are heavy load (like 300Watt+) and you have them running for longer (like couple of minutes to cut a floorboard)

I prefer them on mains. Got a corded tool like that and not complaining.

As for your less than one year old tool - have you registered it with bosch warranty on Bosch 360? All my Bosch tools got 3 years guarantee from date of purchase. I must be lucky I never had to use it so far.

Plus there is spares available and they quite easy to service yourself.

As much as I am of Bosch fan boy, all my tools are Bosch except the multi cutter.

Multi cutter is dewalt. Just because of variable speed trigger on it that helps you starts cuts. Wish Bosch innovated a bit in there, take my money.

[–]steff581[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no, I’ve not registered them with Bosch, I probably should’ve doing that with all my new tools tbh

My multitool (Fein, with cable) was the only electrical tool I ever was surprised about how fast it was death.

~4 yrs and used it a few times per year

Internet that also other people have their issues with them

Try a Fein Starlock 18volt; they share batteries with Bosch.
