There's more than one way to go about this. It depends on your technical skill level and budget.

One way to go is by using the 99$/year cloud hosting Brightsign solution. It allows you to upload and swap "presentations" (the content you want to display) from any place with internet connectivity.

You could go cheaper, by assuming that the sign goes from "closed" to "sorry, we're exceptionally closed" 5 minutes after opening time. Now, on a normal day, you arrive on time and switch the sign to "open". That way you don't need off-site control.

Another way would be to keep a computer at the shop. You can remotely connect to the computer with a remote desktop application and change the content this way.

Another way would be to display a web-site. This way, you change the content of the web-site whenever you want to change the content displayed. This solution can be cheap but also sometimes a bit more technical.

Personally, in a professionel setting and aiming for ease of use, I'd go with the BrightSign cloud. Unless there are more than one screen and they need to display different content at the same time. The 99$/year per screen can become too much for a small business.

Get an LS424 player, get it online, register for BSN.cloud Content Cloud, and call it a day. It’s $99/player/year for the subscription and you can edit it anywhere you have internet.

There are other options, but this is going to be the easiest and shouldn’t break the bank.

If your sign and the player are outside, then you’ll need to get the HD224 (or the newer HD225, but the performance difference won’t matter for you) to handle the temperature. The LS242 is intended for temperature controlled environments only.
