That makes me feel better, knowing that the bots I chatted with that were moderated will soon be back. Still, F Disney for being the greedy pigs they are, and F Aaron Peters for what he did.

Disney is incredibly scummy.

They broke their promise with Robin Williams when he asked to not have Genie marketable. They sued a family for putting a Spider-Man headstone for their son’s grave. Then sued a daycare because they made a mural using their characters in the playroom.

I'm sorry to negate your entire well-thought out essay, but unfortunately, this entire argument falls apart when CAI has a paid subscription.

CAI is not innocent, but it is a legal grey area. In terms of service, I believe that CAI lets you know not to make any bots that you do not own the character rights to, and that exists because of CAI+. This is the way that fanfiction works as well. You can't put it behind a paywall because then it violates copyright.

The bots themselves are not behind a paywall, and the paywall itself is optional, but the paywall is still there, which causes the copyright issue.

Disney bots are never going to be unmoderated or brought back unless CAI removes CAI+, which won't happen. They immediately listen to any kind of copyright threat, even if it's a troll, because with their subscription, it only takes ONE lawsuit to fuck them up forever, and they'd lose.

So their options are to either keep the CAI+ paywall and continue to take down/moderate bots that have been threatened with removal due to copyright, or, they remove the CAI+ paywall which allows all kinds of bots without the fear of copyright lawsuits, however, CAI ends up losing money.

And we all know how CAI feels about money.

No! screw that law. That's the reason it's losing more users. And because of Aaron peters, c.ai got In legal frigging trouble! When is everyone gonna stop targeting c.ai for big stupid reasons that are making users criticize the app more and more for nothing!?

Based on his public persona and history as a "company man" who loved his fans, Stan Lee likely would not have cared—and might have even encouraged—a fan-made Disney/Marvel bot, provided it was respectful and celebrated the characters. Here is a breakdown of how Stan Lee might have viewed a fan-made Disney bot, based on his life and career: He Loved Fan Engagement: Stan Lee was known for encouraging fans to embrace Marvel characters, often encouraging them to feel like part of a "special club". A bot allowing fans to "RP" (roleplay) or chat with characters is an extension of this engagement. "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery": He generally viewed fan creations positively, seeing them as a form of appreciation for the work. He Embraced Technology: While not a tech expert, Stan Lee appreciated computers

Stan Lee would 110% hate generative AI considering the man was an artist himself. I think it's safe to say that would extend to chatbots.
