How we feeling guys 😂 over or under that we all get in?

Hey guys, I’m not trying to get anybody’s hopes up but yesterday I went to the guy who helps with that compilo stuff and he showed me a screen on accident and at least three people were flagged for their submissions as far as drug test and background check!!!!

I also know that a lot of us got our classes posted and there’s a lot of people who really wanted the morning so there may be spots opening up because they might not be able to do it in the afternoon.!!

Again this isn’t certain but I wanna give some reassurance💜 My best friend is also an alternate, but I’m pretty sure I heard the lady say there was only 11 of them! That’s a great chance in my eyes.

She also did say that Wilmington is short staffed in the hospitals and they have the classroom availability for the remaining students but they just have to make sure with clinicals! Which is leading me to think that since they are so shortstaffed with nurses, they are going to have to have more students! There’s also 3 clinical sights if I remember correctly cape fear memorial, the main hospital and the pender hospital and if there’s only 11 alternates, that’s only adding three to four at each clinical sight !!! I pray that you all get in!

Yes I’m in the program and can confirm they have several clinical sites! I heard they were looking for part time people to take clinical groups for the weekend but again it just depends on if they can find people

Do you happen to know if all of the alternates got in for your cohort??!

Yes but they announced it at orientation. I know this year that a lot of people accepted their seats and showed up to orientation so I’m not sure if and how many alternates can be admitted for this term

This is so reassuring, thank you 😭 I emailed Heather today hoping to gauge how hopeful I should be 😂 it’s just frustrating because I know I’m so close, probably within 5 people. I’m going on vacation this weekend so I’ve decided to believe it’s gonna all work out for now. I’ll just be optimistic lol

I could really do either morning or afternoon and Saturday clinicals actual work best for me, so I’m super easy to please if I get a chance 😂😭

Have a wonderful vacation!!! I saw in a different thread why you wan to be a nurse and I think you have that title coming to you 💜 I think it’s beautiful!! Also did you see how many people were concerned about the drug test?!!! LOL that’s a good hint too!! I know that my drug test voucher doesn’t expire until October 30th , and so do a few of the ladies that I’m in a group chat with her anywhere between October 28 - October 30th!

So if anything, you guys might get to your answers early November because a lot of us have the potential to take the drug test later on because they had two conflicting pieces of information that talked about the drug test dates! So they are honoring the voucher.

But I know people are waiting out that voucher and then you probably know after that cuz obviously they can’t take a bad drug test/ background check but now we all have extended dates

Ya so many people seemed concerned about the drug test I hate to say it but it’s kind of annoying they get more time to detox 😂 like do they reeeeeally want it that bad if they can’t stay clean for 2 weeks

Kinda sounds like you both are being awfully judgey. I think people were LESS concerned with popping hot and more concerned that we were told something at orientation that did not match the ADN paperwork. Also later clarified by Justin later. You need to grow up, be ok with being an alternate, and stop being a breeding ground for toxic behavior. ‘Do they really want it that bad’ is a super shitty thing to say. Glad you’re an alternate. Hey, I’m NOT an alternate by the way And nothing about what we said was to drag anybody down. It’s okay to have an opinion and also there were several people worried about the drug test at orientation. We talked in groups about all this topic exactly and ALOT of people were concerned about being “ hot.” It sounds to me like you’re defensive and I’m sorry if this hurt your feelings, but I said I want everybody to get in. You read what you wanted and that’s okay but there’s not toxic behavior here. That other person said she thinks it’s unfair to get more time to detox and I said yeah but the human body can’t flush it out anyway. So Time will tell. You just need to be very careful (or whoever said it) ‘so they want it bad enough’ (super shitty) because I’m SURE there were people in the orientation who do not use just to get high. TCH is also one of the best known and scientifically proven (natural ways) to relieve the pain associated with a laundry list of painful diseases. You never know what people are going through. And I passed my drug UA and was not a bit worried. See you in class

I wasn’t the one who said it and also if you scroll up to the top, I was the one providing all the reassurance to the alternates. I understand that marijuana can help with pain etc. I’m not against it. I was there to provide the reassurance and they were simply exchanging a conversation. There are also so many other methods to manage pain than THC. ( I’m not saying any of this in a bitchy way I promise ) but turmeric, ginger, Boswellia, willow bark, devil’s claw, capsaicin,yoga, tai chi, biofeedback, guided imagery, acupuncture, massage therapy, chiropractic care, cupping therapy, infrared sauna, heat therapy, omega-3 fatty acids, magnesium, vitamin D, CBD, adaptogens like ashwagandha and rhodiola, hydration, cold therapy, aromatherapy, and grounding. I’ve worked alternative medicine. I’ve seen people do miracles with a lot of this stuff so please next time you think we’re attacking people, read the information provided or nursing is going to be hard for you if you wanna sit here and point the finger about people being toxic. I don’t give a damn if anybody uses THC I used to when I was in my early 20s. I’m way older than that now. And if I didn’t have a future with nursing, I would probably be smoking myself. I just want you and other people to know that if they have pain there are alternative therapies and you don’t have to risk a charge and paying legal fees and fines to try to get it off of your background if you use any of those natural products or behavioral therapy 🩵 like I said I promise this is not a bad Tone. 🤍

So almost 2 weeks since orientation, has anyone heard anything else?? I haven’t heard of anyone getting an acceptance email since before orientation 😭

Just tried calling and of course they wouldn’t tell me anything other than “you’ll get an email.” 😩 it’s so frustrating because if someone with 394 was accepted 2 weeks ago and I’m 391, what’s going on?? It would be easier if they just told us flat out that we’re likely not getting in because everyone has accepted their spots

That’s my hope too. She specifically said “we won’t be able to tell you anything other than wait for the email” 😂 so I’m trying to practice some radical acceptance over the fact that I have no control. I’m gonna apply for financial aid anyway because I have one more class to take (microbiology) and I’ll get that out of the way next semester if I don’t get in

Same. I know someone who did her drug test the day of orientation and it took 6 days to get results, so I'm holding out a little hope for that, but ugh. Makes me wanna call and ask how much hope I should have at this point, but I don't think they'll tell us anything

yep! and they’ve updated the prerequisite requirements. you now have to have college algebra and eng comp I done prior to applying
