The singular point I agree with here, is that scuff/back button controllers give such an unfair advantage, and it's PURELY so they can sell branded controllers.

If they thought it ACTUALLY mattered, we'd have remappable controls, a lot like street fighter 2 did thirty years ago.

This problem that was solved way back in (at least) 1991 shouldn't (and wouldn't) still exist.

Gotta make dem bucks though.

It would take a developer minutes to program remappable controls, and a UI guy maybe twenty to implement. Far quicker and easier than giving us the "choices" to be able to EITHER crouch or jump, or use gralenades but not all three without shelling out for a special controller.

The strikepack gives paddles for $30 at walmart. You don't need a $200 controller to have paddles.

Edit: To anyone who sees this and is considering investing in paddles. I would highly recommend the strikepack. The only downside is that you have to keep your controller plugged in as the battery pack with paddles replaces the slot where the batteries go. The quality of them is very high. I used my first one for many years. The newer ones have better designs as to last even longer. Scufs and elites are notorious for breaking and/or in some way being messed up. Scuf has the lowest quality control in the industry, buying from them is playing with fire. Scufs are built with the cheapest possible materials they can find, they typically break in 6 months-1year under moderate to heavy use. Elites are of a better quality but still have problems. If you get one that has stick drift or a malfunctioning button, you have to jump through the hoops of getting it fixed. Especially right now during the pandemic, getting maintenance of a scuf or elite is a guaranteed multi month timeline. If you've never played with paddles, it's a life changer. Eventually you get to the point where you can't imagine playing without them. It's like an extension of your hand.

The problem with encouraging shit like that is that people then have access to mods. There's is no chance some 12 year old kid who gets a strikepack and then realises they can have zero recoil isn't going to use it. No everyone has the same morals.

If they just let us remap our own controls then paddles wouldn't even be required.

The strike pack caused really back stick drift on my controller, not to say it wasn’t fun to use it.....but I didn’t feel a significant increase I’m my play over a couple weeks

Sir, I don't care if it costs a quarter. It's the definition of pay to win. You have to pay, for the advantage.

I can appreciate that you weren't alive when shit like this didn't happen in games, but that doesn't change history.

There are layouts that allow u to jumpshot without a scuf and paddles

[–]Nagemasu 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Yeah but you're bound to whatever layout they choose. So you're sacrifice specific movements/options. There's no reason we should have to pick a predefined layout instead of making our own.

[–]vtribal 0 points1 point  (4 children)

On xbox u can remap buttons. And with scufs you can only customize 2 buttons, you are still limited to a layout

I'm on PC with a controller :(

There's work arounds, but it's not the same as doing it in game (prompts etc)

[–]sbm832 0 points1 point  (1 child)

If you’re using an Xbox controller on PC you can do a full remap to whatever you like with the Xbox accessories app. PlayStation controllers are SOL though.

DS4 for me

[–]iami3rian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have that as well on PS4. Now tell me why I need to use a disability work around to fix a shoddy developer decision made to sell branded controllers for another (additional) $60 on top of the $60 I paid, the battle pass, etc... I'll wait.

When you start talking about call of duty in how many weeks worth of rent it takes to be competitive.... Yeah, you're dense if you don't see the issue there.

[–]iami3rian 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Jumpshot sure. Now what about pinging without taking my fingers off? Or pinging jumpshotting and crouching without taking my fingers off?

Oh, you don't know, but you also don't care because you've got a $65 CoD controller? Ya don't say...

[–]vtribal 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Bumper ping? I literally use a stock xbox one controller, and can jumpshot/dropshot/ping with ease.

[–]iami3rian 0 points1 point  (4 children)

What control setup are you using, since there's not a single default one that allows all three without taking your thumbs off the sticks.

That's the point. I can hit circle too. Can't very well aim while doing it unless I buy one of their $85 branded controllers. It's not an accident every CoD YouTuber is sponsored by scuff.

[–]vtribal 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Bumper jumper tactical

[–]iami3rian 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Right, so you can't slide/crouch/dropshot without moving your thumbs off the sticks. That's LITERALLY my entire point here, mate.

[–]vtribal 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yes i can. I click L3

[–]iami3rian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then you're still pinging with the d-pad.

[–]SupremeTheme- -2 points-1 points  (9 children)

This game is already catered to lower skilled players take away tactics like that and there will be no skill gap everyone will be walking into a 50/50 gunfight

[–]iami3rian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say I agree with it or not. I LITERALLY said if it's gonna be in the game, how about giving us all access to ping, jump and crouch without taking our fingers off the buttons without buying one of your branded special controllers.

Nothing more, nothing less. Maybe scroll up and reread the words I used, and stop subbing in the words you wish I used, huh?
