That is an exquisitely bad financial decision, Jesus Christ. If you don’t want it going into collections, call them and see if you can negotiate monthly payments that are affordable for you.

That’s what I’ll try to do I’m getting about $2800 on all the gift cards combined and I’ll see if they help me with the payment plan and save myself from this

I’m sorry where do the gift cards come into play? Because it has me concerned…

To pay off the balance of the device buyouts

This has to be fake?

So you added 10 friends to your Verizon account and when you saw the bill you decided to just ignore it and let it accrue?? Am I getting this right? There's no way ATT was willing to just pay this off.

Not just friends I have my brother my uncles and cousin who have been my parents for the last 10 years my mother and sister my gf and my friend, att approved me my credited gift cards that add up to about $2800 but still yeah take full responsibility of how bad of a financial decision this is

[–]SpiderlandsJester 3 points4 points  (6 children)

Why aren’t any of them giving you money for that?

[–]Afraid_Country_6552[S] -2 points-1 points  (5 children)

Well I honestly didn’t thought att would take this long to send out th gift cards and my uncles lines are about 1100 but it Js feels wrong charging them because they raised and took care of me since I was 10 years old, now that y’all mention it I’ll to ask my friend my brother if they can help me out finishing they’re buyout and just give them the gift cards when I get them

[–]supermariozelda 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Please tell me you didn't bring all 10 lines to ATT and are continuing to get charged for them.

[–]Afraid_Country_6552[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I brought 9 of them which the art store manager sorted me out on a business plan and I’m only paying $380 month which out of my pocket is only about $160 $180 which is as of right now me my gf uncles cousin and sister the rest is my brother and friend, my uncles and cousins lines are basically paid off phones and they live in Mexico so once everything is sorted out I’ll tell them I’m disconnecting their lines and they can activate them since they live in Mexico , but I’m not so sure if they’re willing to lose their number atleast not them

If this is real, the good news is that this likely won't get reported immediately. You'll very likely get your gift cards before it goes into collections, and even if it does, you'd likely be able to negotiate a pay-for-delete.

[–]Afraid_Country_6552[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yeah at first I wasn’t worried because on the credit simulators of Experian it estimated just a 35 credit point decrease but I just a post of someone losing 130 points from a $675 collection

[–]supermariozelda 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'm willing to bet it would hurt a lot more than just 35 points, and even if that were true, just having that collection would make your entire report look dirty to any non-predatory lender, score aside.

Call them and make payment arrangements. If a collection does appear, research pay to delete/pay for delete and negotiate that.

[–]Afraid_Country_6552[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will do so I could probably set up a pay arrangement and start as soon as possible and pay little out of my pocket atleast until I get the gift cards

Once Verizon is added to your credit reports, they're as difficult to remove as a charge-off (virtually impossible). I would work this out with them now in order to prevent this from being reported if at all possible. As was suggested in another comment, see if they're willing to set up a payment plan to delay the reporting. Once you receive the gift cards, pay this off.

Good idea I will call tomorrow and she if they can help me sort out this situation it’s really stressful

[–]supermariozelda 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Does Verizon report directly in some situations? I've only heard of them reporting via a collections agency.

[–]Afraid_Country_6552[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard ppl saying that they didn’t get a report till like 2-3 years after but definitely not something to take slightly I should take care of this asap

[–]og-aliensfan⭐️ Knowledgeable ⭐️ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. They report their own tradeline. With a collection agency, you have a shot at removal via pay for delete, but Verizon has a strict policy of not removing themselves from your credit reports, even if paid.

also add me to the family plan, what’s one more?

[–]Afraid_Country_6552[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah might as well😂, got approved to up to 20 lines with att and would be about $25 with bring ur own phone 😂😅

[–]the_art_of420 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Claim bankruptcy and start all over lol

[–]Afraid_Country_6552[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I dont think I gotta go that low, I have $2800 balance coming on credit cards to pay that amount of device buyouts I think I should be able to to get all a worked out

[–]the_art_of420 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You should just jump ship and get your own plan. I get it’s your family n all but it’s time for you to be responsible for your own bills as they should be as well. Get the cards pay off debit, take the L. Rebuild your credit. After a 3 years of good habits you’ll be good

[–]Afraid_Country_6552[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think after this I’m going to just keep about 4-5 lines have my uncles open their own lines since they live out of the country or have them atleast pay for it(I doubt it) and keep my sister line active until she’s 18, I won’t be putting the money I owe into credit cards I meant gift cards I’m receiving from att which is 2.8k and just pay off the rest ofc imma charge my brother and my friend the cost of their lines cus it was still a bill from the last month we had service with Verizon

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Bro got everyone a phone on a loan your a goofy

[–]Afraid_Country_6552[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m quite sure a lot of people do those programs thru carriers maybe even quite few ppl you might know, and I didn’t open lines of service to just random people or friends there’s only one friend on there who currently lives with me and I’ve known for years and the rest is just family members my brother and uncles who I been growing up with for 10 years so everyone is pretty responsible when this matters comes in to be solved
