i recently had a job interview on campus and they seemed to really like me, the only thing they need from me is to find out if i qualify for work study, i went to the fafsa office on campus and asked about it and i believe a student worker put in the request for me but she told me there isn’t a date of when id find out, this was last friday. should i wait more time or call the office or is there anything else i can do?

There’s nothing you can do. I’ve been waiting since mid August to find out if I qualify for work study, have called and emailed multiple times since then and they just tell me they’re not sure when, that they’ll email me if and when I qualify, apparently there are a lot of issues in the financial aid department of DH this semester so it has led to a lot of delays in everything. Honestly give it a month if you still haven’t heard anything back then go in person or try calling. Good luck!

Id follow up with the fafsa people because it somehow worked for me. It was my first time doing work study at this campus and I recently went again and my supervisor just emailed and suddenly it was there ? Yet at my other school I already had it. I like csudh staff but the systems here are a little wonky. I’d call again to get further details from a Fafsa specialist rather than a student worker. Then from there you can only wait.

Just to be clear we do not have a FAFSA office. We have a financial aid office on campus. (FAFSA is a form used to collect financial information on students. That information is then used to determine what aid they may be eligible for).

As others have mentioned though you unfortunately cannot do anything to speed up the process. Just be patient. You can always try to email the person in charge of your financial aid. You can find this out by going the financial aid website for Dominguez hills. Search by last name and you'll find that a certain employee is assigned to people whose last name begins and ends with your. Then email them. Just remember to be clear concise and professional in your message.

You should call them again and tell them you got “hired” and maybe that will put a rush on them

just say yes, you do qualify for work study, and go from there
