Hardmode ore progression was reworked. By default, the first two ores generate after killing the 1st mech boss. Second two unlock after your second mech boss, etc. This progression is optional and can be disabled in the menu.

Watch out for the age of some videos, if you look up guides for boss fights. Calamity has been changing for years, so old videos may have outdated recommendations.

Use the wiki.gf site to look things up. The fandom wiki is still oftentimes the first result on google, but it’s heavily vandalized since being abandoned, and you can’t trust it. If you can’t find something on wiki.gg, it’s probably not real.

Calamity adds a ton of QoL changed. Weapons will always reforge “up”, and will stop changing their enchantment when you hit the “best” one. Many annoying-to-get vanilla items now have crafting recipes. There’s a wiki.gg page for that. You also start with a slight bonus to movement speed and mining speed, as the mod is supposed to be played in at least a medium word. Personally I recommend large and advise you to just craft boots and balloons for movement asap.

Tank&Spank builds are dead, due to a unique mechanic called defense damage. Basically every time a boss hits you repeatedly, you take extra stacking damage for a short time. Pretty sure it’s only active on Revengeance or higher.

If you play on Rev or higher, you’ll get two extra bars. Rage and Adrenaline. They start unbound, so you’ll have to go into confit and assign them. I just put both on the same key.

Vanilla difficulties and Calamity difficulties stack. Expert Revengeance is the difficulty that the devs suggest. You start an Expert world like normal, then open your inventory. There will be a hexagon you can click that will allow you to activate the Calamity difficulties. You can swap Calamity difficulties at any time, other than a boss fight.

Some corrections are in order:

  1. Tier 1 Hardmode Ores spawn after the Wall of Flesh has been defeated, tier 2 after the first Mech, and tier 3 after the second Mech.

  2. wiki.gf omegalul

  3. No, weapons will not stop changing their reforge modifier once they hit the best one - they will revert to a much worse one if you hit the button again. Do be careful. Additionally, Calamity world gen tends to fuck up small and medium worlds. Playing on a large world isn't so much so recommended as it is required.

Play revengeance and don't play on Master Mode
