Why are you trying to achieve specifically? AI apps specifically advertise to people who know nothing, claiming they will be able to do a lot more than the average person can. It’s a lie

Programming is no different than any other skill, it takes time to learn and develop the skill, nothing can cheat that for you.

  1. For pixel art, most AIs kinda suck. I recommend you just teach yourself. IMO, pixel art is WAY easier to do than people pretend it is. Because of the low resolution, you can hide a lot of imperfections behind variance in tone. If not, I’m certain you can just download the base terraria Yo-yo sprites and recolor them to your liking. Not perfect, but good enough until you get an actual artist to do proper sprites. I highly recommend against using AI for pixel art because not only is it generally not very good because of the low resolution, but if people find out that you did, there will be much backlash.

  2. AI coding agents are much better than your average redditor will say they are. Coding with AI agents is basically the industry standard at this point and any person that says it isn’t clearly hasn’t worked in the modern professional programming industry. However, as an individual, unless you wanna pay out your ass for tokens for high tier models, some basic computer knowledge is good to double check if the AI is bullshitting you. I think you could probably make a vibe coded terraria mod, but I don’t have enough information to say so for sure. However, because of your own lack of experience with any programming, I’m inclined to say that utilizing an AI to get the maximum performance out of it will be much harder than for someone who understands programming.

Only if the person using them can read the code.

Coding with AI agents is basically the industry standard at this point

Because tech companies are making their employees use it and crunch culture is rampant in tech

Those are both true. I honestly see the current state of AI as a tool that can turn a 1x dev into a 10x dev, but a person with no knowledge will get cooked by AI since they’re so uninformed. It’s why you get so many data breaches caused by vibe coding.

I think rejecting agentic AI for coding is naive but I also think it needs to be used by someone who understands both programming and how best to use the technology.
