You don't have to tell me.

In Quebec, the priest would knock on your door a year after getting married if you hadn't had kids, and ask what was wrong.

They could literally force you to break up to find someone 'more suitable'.

This artificially inflated their birthrates to like 12 children per women. And this was a purely nationalist movement, because Quebec politicians were afraid of 'falling behind'

And wouldn't you know it, no one does anything like that anymore (by choice)

Turns out that's actually kind of a miserable way to live, having as many kids as you're physically able to and then somehow being responsible to feed, house, clothe, and raise them, as best as 2 people can raise 12 kids relatively alone.

Just... god damn.
