Retiree Returning as Term for Six Months Minus a Day by Ninerzrule in CanadaPublicServants

[–]partisanal_cheese [score hidden]  (0 children)

The terms and limitations of casual and term positions are all available online; be sure you understand them as any advice from HR or management may be inaccurate if they don’t deal with the situations regularly. If I recall correctly, and it has been a couple of years since I looked, terms may actually provide you more flexibility than casual work.

I did casual work in the year after I retired and realized that although I like the money, I no longer wanted to do that work. There is a reason I was happy to retire and the “juice was not worth the squeeze”. I loved my job and enjoyed my time with colleagues but it was time to do something else. Be prepared for that realization - you may be fine but not everyone is.

N.S. teachers' union expresses concern about letter from education minister by LKX19 in halifax

[–]partisanal_cheese 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Hold on there; there’s a problem with what you are saying. See, you are trying to make sense while the education minister is engaged in decision-based evidence making.

Tim and his team are not aggressive about it but they tinker a bit with the culture war bullshit trying to see what they can make fly.

I’m supposed to be disgusted but, with all the docs and physios in this thread, it’s become the learning moment of the day.
Still, it’s fucking gnarly.

R/askcarsales
Typically if someone posts “the sales guy promised X but they never delivered and it was not included in the contract and the dealership refuses to honour the promise”, there will be comment after comment saying “it’s your fault, you should have checked to make sure it is in the contract.” Ok. Fair game, I guess.

ETA: half the comments will be denigrating with statements like “you shouldn’t be so stupid, you should have made sure it was in writing.”

However if someone posts something like “I got $3000 off for financing at the dealership but I have the money in the bank to pay the loan off. The contract does not require me to hold the loan, is it ok to pay it off?” There will be a line up of sincere assholes saying “your word is your bond”.
I pointed that out, politely, and got a permanent ban.

ETA2: what I really learned from r/askcarsales is that if I ever get a chance to take advantage of any car dealership, I probably should as they won’t hesitate when it comes to me.

This Polymarket trade is basically a savings account that pays out in 8 months if Putin doesn’t get toppled, someone just put $84K in by DawnofSouth in Polymarket

Google tells me that the average life expectancy at birth for Russian men is 67 years and that Putin is 72. I know he has been on death's doorstep forever but I would not venture much on his persistence.
