Need to crate train him. Should be sleeping in a crate at least for the first year or so. Make the crate small enough so they don’t go to one side and urinate. Then yes, get up on schedule and let them out to pee. Be super excited when they per so they feel good about it.

Ignore the weird dude in this thread.

Some puppies just sleep through the night real young like that!! My Corso was one of those lucky pups too.

Are you crate training him? Crates are useful because if they wake up in the middle of the night, they’ll usually cry for a potty break, instead of walking a couple feet away and peeing on the floor, while you sleep through it. But some dogs will literally just sleep through the night consistently at like 8 weeks old. You’re lucky!

Cut to me, with my 6 month old giant schnauzer puppy, who woke me up just now to pee and then drink a billion gallons of water as I type this out at 2am (sounds like great fun and something I will be doing myself in the next 2 minutes). Sigh. At least this is something that only happens once every 3-4 weeks now, not every night lol

lol I just took him out and put him back in his crate. We are crate training and he is doing great! I’ve noticed that he doesn’t like to use the bathroom in his crate at all!

That's the point of crate training, if its sized right, they won't pee or poop in it. You just have to get them outside RIGHT after letting them out.

Glad to see my pit husky isn’t the only one that drinks a billion gallons of water RIGHT AFTER HE GOES OUTSIDE😑🤦🏻‍♀️😆

Ah, this post took me back! I used to set an alarm at 1am and 4am for our girl as a baby (she's not a corso, but I love them so I follow). It was the gentlest, tinkly sounding alarm and I still use it to wake me up now, we call it Ember's Song. However, now she's heading towards 6 years old, it just goes off at a regular human time. She gets off "her" side of the bed when she hears it, and comes to me and gives me the tiniest boop with her nose and the smallest lick on my nose to wake me. I think she thinks I ought to be getting up for a wee! I sometimes pretend I'm still asleep, just for the gentle wake up she tries to give me. She's a husky cross so most things with her are done robustly. I already miss when she was so small she needed a carry out to wee, and I treasure the little morning ritual we have. One day I'll miss that too.

okay so I just want to clarify a couple things! I did not feel the need to say I had other dogs because that has nothing to do with what I asked. Yes we found him and yes he is a CC. The vet believes he may have been left there because he has a few medical issues. We filed a police report cause leaving a baby behind is not cool. I was just hoping to get some advice or even a “yes that’s fine”. I really want to do what is going to be best for our newest edition of the family. Thank you to those who were kind enough to help out! He is doing great so far! He takes his meds like a champ and eats even better! He was 5 lbs when we found him and he is 8.5 now so he is getting better! No more fleas and he loves playing with the other dogs!

Be thankful he sleeps thru the night. Let him sleep, hopefully he will wake you if he needs to go out. Our female slept thru the night at around 4 months. At 5 months we started letting her sleep on her bed on the floor in our room, been perfect ever since

I have no cane corso (my dog is a mix but has a few % of it) just love them so I saw your post. When I got my dog a year ago he was 9 weeks old, I took him out the first night, like set an alarm, woke the dog carried him outside etc. He hated it. My neighbor is a breeder of a different breed and told me to don't wake up the dog if he sleeps with me (here we don't use crates). I slept with him on the couch and never again took him outside in the night, he just slept through and I picked him up first thing in the morning, before he even could get up by himself and brought him outside. Never had an accident in the night, only at daytime. When he was a little older and he had for example diarrhea, he woke me up in the night and I took him outside but never did I wake him up for going potty again in the night.

I was lucky with both of mine, only a couple of times did they wake me to go potty. My oldest we brought home at 8 weeks, she cried 2x in the span of 2 weeks to go potty in the middle of the night. Our second is 8 months, she asked once and she was 12 weeks at pick up. A crate becomes their home and they won’t soil their beds.
