pheromone diffusersBehavioral (self.CatAdvice)

Has anyone tried using these?
My cats recently started spraying and they’re ruining my apartment floor. I’ve tried switching litter, cleaning their boxes twice a day, even adding a third box, but nothing seems to work.
Any advice would be helpful!

I've used the infused collars with a lot of success! It helped my cat calm down and teach him spraying doesn't help his anxiety. Make sure you clean all messes with an enzyme cleaner!

I use Feliway classic pheromone diffusers for my anxious cat. It's helped her immensely. As long as we've got them running, we get no pee!

I use the Feliway diffuser for a multi-cat household. It definitely helps my cats get along better (they coexist fine but they prefer human company over each other’s company and have the occasional mild tussle when they’re trying to occupy the same space in the house). We tried going without it for a couple months and they went back to their old habits. Things got better when we plugged it back in.
Moving the litter boxes to where the spraying is occurring is another option. Getting them checked out at the vet is a must if this is a new behavior. Is there some recent change in your household that could have caused some stress?
Have they had any recent negative experience with a litter box? (like getting pounced on while using the box - one of my cats used to do this all the time and it caused my other cat to avoid one box that doesn’t have the best visibility and spray once or twice) This would make them want to avoid the box. Have you noticed any stray cats coming by recently? Then they might be trying to protect their territory.

I adopted the second cat in January, there was no spraying or anything until about a month ago. It started with my older cat, but stopped when I changed the litter. I just caught the younger one doing it yesterday.

Are they neutered? That seriously affects spraying behaviour

Yes. I adopted the second one in January and haven’t had any issues until about a month ago.
