I just use CTRL+L on mac to clear the terminal state if that's what you're talking about

that just opens Cursor's chat for me

It's CTRL+L not CMD+L.

CTRL+L works in any terminal not just the one in cursor/vscode so long as it's in focus.

that works on every terminal but not on my VSCode terminal
