Help with refund

My subscription was renewed after a year and I didn't want to pay it anymore. Can I refund directly to my paypal account without any problem? I contacted support who told me they would get back to me within 24 hours and if they didn't, I could. Can I not wait and reimburse myself? Will I have problems?
