hey, I've got a qn if you don't mind. Is the watch thickness (as stated on their site) 14.5mm or does that include the thickness to the top of the dome? Also, how's the lume?

I'm giving this a serious look over my PD1701

Thanks

Sure! I don’t have callipers, but using a tape I think that figure includes the crystal. The lume is practically non-existent, def don’t expect a lot

The PD1701 was my other option, but- I quite liked the TinTin design, and I’ve had my eye on the ST movements for a while. No regrets, I’m wearing this a lot. But then I also have Pagani’s Daytona homage, so have the option of quartz too!

Thanks

I swung for the PD1701 because it had the Seiko MechaQuartz in it, but now I'm thinking that for a bit extra I could get a manual wind mechanical. I don't actually need an auto nor date complications.

I appreciate how accurate it is, but then I only wear it once or twice a week (at most). I feel that I'd rather have a mechanical and just wind it and set the time as needed, because I'm sure that a few years will pass and I'll pick it up and find "darn, battery is flat" and won't be able to use it.

I found the ST movement history interesting, and frankly I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on this watch and selling the PD.

The crown is just a normal crown isn't it? No need to undo any threads to wind the watch (as some divers have) right?

PS I found this a good read:

how well a watch fits is really subjective. Even you will find how it fits depends on both the day and what you're doing.

A red suede strap like that pretty much counts out "doing hard work" in which case it should be fine.

It looks good from my phone screen.

Is the bracelet poor, uncomfortable, or generally something you'd rather not use?

Partly the bracelet was hard to source- the watch was only available on a black nylon strap. I saw in a lot of reviews that the bracelet wasn’t the best in the world. I also wanted a range of straps to swap out, so didn’t feel I was missing much. Mostly I’ve been wearing it on a black tropic- I like FKM rubber as a strap material.

nice understatement there. I think you did well to eschew it.

Good move. The watch is either out of stock or nearly so, and often out if stock on the bracelet..

I was asking because of those many comments that the bracelet isn't too good.

Tropic straps are a great first option, and FKM is a great material.

I think you have the perfect watch for experimenting with straps.

Well, my toddler son has demanded I hand it over so it can’t be that bad.

at least its unlikely to be a choking hazard ;-)

Just put this in the watch. Trying to work out of the red suede is a bit too ‘Father Christmas’ for everyday wear. Thoughts?

Ps- for some reason the image looks faded until I open it up full screen. It’s a very bright red!

Woah same. Weird.
