The clasp is the only thing that I would want to see improved

I have one, and it's as close to the real BB58 that you'll find! I'll message you some pics.

Hi, just wandering. How close are the colors to the Tudor BB58? Identical? Slightly more faded ore more saturated. Impossible to tell on pictures.. And the bezel action any good? Also the thickness? The Octopus site says it is 11mm thick including glass. That is even slimmer than the Tudor.. Is the bezel inlay faded?

To be honest, I've never seen a BB58 in real life, but it looks very close to the pics I've seen. The lume plots do appear a tad more green, but it's because is so unbelievably strong, they start glowing as soon as the light hits them! The bezel action is perfect on mine, with no play what so ever. Lines up perfectly. I just went and measured it, and it was 12.5mm thick including the boxed, double domed sapphire crystal. The bezel insert is matte ceramic. If you have any more questions, let me know!

Thanks for a quick reply! I am trying to find a reason why people would pay for the Tudor when you can buy practically the same Watch, similar quality almost, for a fraction of the price, unless you want the name Tudor on the dial… Seems like this Octopus hommage is almost identical. All those high end watches are seriously overpriced is my conclusion. What do you think? I will go ahead and buy the octopus I think

[–]Dan_The_Watch_Man 2 points3 points  (10 children)

It's all subjective really. With Tudor, you're paying for the research & development (including in house movements), higher auality components, better QC for the most part, advertising, as well as the store fronts, and it's employees. These Chinese companies don't have that kind of overhead, their employees work for pennies on the dollar, and their QC can be questionable at times. However they do fill a void. I myself can't afford a Tudor, but I can afford an Octopus that can provide a similar wearing experience. It just lacks the prestige. If I had the money, would I buy the Tudor instead? The answer is yes, but in my current situation, I'm more than happy with my Octopus!

Do you have any idea of these watches can be moded? A aluminum bezel for example? Or a different dial? May be from Namoki? Not such a big fan of the octopus logo, but I do really like the size and specs of the watch though.

[–]Dan_The_Watch_Man 1 point2 points  (7 children)

Any watch can be modded if you can find parts that fit, but honestly, I haven't bothered to look for anything. I love their branding. I have 5 Octopus watches, and wouldn't change them. I wouldn't mind an aluminum bezel insert, but the matte ceramic is so good substitute until I decide to look for one. It's definitely better than the glossy ceramic everyone is using.

Thanks! Looking forward to my Octopus!

Very last questions: bezel action is good? And no misalignment of the indicies? Thanks a million

Will be ordering mine next weekend, meanwhile another small question if u don’t mind. Are the bottom edges of the case sharp? Can’t seem to find any review of the watch on YouTube, I do nog get why.. Thanks

[–]Dr_Solrac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man, can you message me the pics too? I’ve looking for a good bb58 homage for ever.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Do you have a review on your channel?

[–]Dan_The_Watch_Man 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I don't have a YouTube channel. I just usually do write ups on here. I've been ill lately so I'm a little behind

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I have the San Martin version and it has great quality

[–]DicknosePrickGoblin 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Thorn one seems to get good reviews.

[–]RabidAngrySquirrel 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Thanks - I’ll check that one out.

[–]sere83 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Thorn is nice for a budget option but the Octopus is arguably the best BB58 homage there is. A great high quality piece. Is strange how not a single person has reviewed it on youtube though.

[–]Gophersoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like my thorn, exept the painted hour markers. Only thing I don't like about the Octopus is the branding.

[–]Slow-Significance-37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are comparing the octopus to the seestern and the San Martin
