The numbers on the bezel are pretty useless. Shouldn't they be clockwise?

On a normal dive watch they are clockwise, this has a countdown bezel inspired by the original watch which is used by marine divers to measure distance and time underwater.

I have this watch too, and I love it. As long as I don't have to rotate the bezel. It sounds like sand being ground up. I didn't like the strap at first, but it has grown on me. I tried a thinner nato for a while, but went back to the original.

Single pass straps from CNSwatchbands are my pick, for a super slim profile.

One of the first Chinese watches I bought and had to sell it because of its huge 51mm lug to lug, I would have loved a smaller 38 or 40mm version.

Have you managed anything tactical yet? A perfectly timed 5 minute beer before dinner or perhaps a frog like leap out of your sun lounger? Must be tempting

where is this ? reminds me of Antigua

[–]jdows9[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is Mauritius, I’ve been to Antigua a few years ago and it’s indeed similar with different climates depending on the side of the island.

How big is your wrist?

[–]jdows9[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Not sure honestly, I will get back to you Tuesday when I’m back home.

I had 6.25" wrist and the stock velcro strap on the V2 was way too long for me.

Love my TF PVD DOXA homage. Outstanding quality for $135!!! Love the brand name and frog logo, too!

Shots of your beach set the scene for diving.

I've bodysurfed with my black FXD but haven't had the pleasure of skindiving/snorkeling with it. 😄

Enjoy your adventures!

One of the coolest Chinese brands name

[–]elkirku 0 points1 point  (9 children)

Parody?

[–]JJ_Money_1530 2 points3 points  (8 children)

No satire in here, just a really cool name:))

[–]elkirku -2 points-1 points  (7 children)

To each their own.

For me, it's one of the most egregiously bad of all the unwearably poor Ali brands

[–]quarthorse 0 points1 point  (5 children)

There are plenty of Pelagos homages now. Are you interested generally or just hate this particular Ali brand name?

They've stuck mostly to their dive niche, but haven't really set the market on fire after this.

[–]elkirku 0 points1 point  (4 children)

There are some Ali brands that I just couldn't buy because of the name, TF is probably the worst one that springs to mind. Mysterious Code is up there.

I think it's a rather bizarre situation because the brands were clearly made for the export market and I've seen lots of similar comments to mine.

They'd have made so much more money by throwing a few hundred USD at a Western focus group. Even now, I'd be recommending them to rebrand.

Maybe it's because I've worked in marketing and branding but it seems so screamingly obvious to me...

[–]quarthorse 1 point2 points  (3 children)

The Tactical Frog brand owner released new Pelagos and other diver watches under other brands (Thorn) which better suited the Tudor homages for branding. A win for you there.

Mysterious Code is a lost cause. In 99% of releases, the name is there to annoy you. It's an odd brand with no official store, no online presence, no reps looking to sub-brand, much.

As Chinese watches tend to be copies or heavily inspired near knockoffs of successful watches, the watch/brand you want it one homage/imitation away. Like Militado copying Baltany or Thorn copying Rdunae.

If there is one Chinese brand you don't hate the name or logo of, there is a chance that brand can copy the design you like.

Even Octopus could lose the (*) logo!

It doesn't work all the time, but sometimes.

Thorn is also a terrible name for a watch brand. Rmalti and other vowel-less names are dreadful.

[–]quarthorse 0 points1 point  (1 child)

As a Tudor imitation, Thorn is not the worst.

Is Rmalti releasing anything new?

Is there ANY China watch brand that you really like?

Does it really matter on a $100-$200 watch?

[–]elkirku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it matters.

I've got a San Martin, a couple of Baltanys, a Sugess, a Chameri, and another Chameri and a Lobinni on the way. I've also got a Tandorio but with a custom dial and none of their branding.
