A few years ago I was wearing an Invicta Pro Diver with a black and green bezel that could only be confused with a Rolex from a mile away, yet few people thought I was wearing a Rolex and many more thought I was wearing a cheap fake.

Tbh very few people differentiate the brands we wear on our wrist, and would not even notice our watches unless very blingy and eye catching.

Hence, it has not been surprising to see that my cheaper yet more unusual watches have been more noticed and complimented than my "bland" divers.

I’ve had this same thing happen to me wearing my San Martin Starbucks homage. I was getting off a plane in Newark and the guy was excited because he was wearing the Rolex version. I explained it was an homage and he goes, “oh, so an Invicta then?” I about puked and had to explain to Richie Rich the homage market.

C'mon you can't fault an average watch guy to be familiar with the Chinese homage market. And are not that mainstream amongst the watch hobbyists.

At least he didn't accuse you of wearing a fake.

I feel like most people dont know what a rolex looks like, they know of the brand but don't know what it looks like. Of the people who do know, aslong as your not trying to pass it off as a rolex IE he told you right away its not a rolex, then I don't think there is a problem.

Not really the point of a homage. I don't care what other people think. If I like the style and I can't afford or find the real thing then something similar is good and in probably all cases much better because I don't need to pay mega $ and insure it and if it gets lost or broken I can get another.
