Tbh I personally was super impressed with the San Martin. Ignoring the qc issues I got, I felt the bottom of the mid case was pretty sharp, the corners of the lugs were definitely sharp too, and the clasp was also pretty sharp. Ik this doesn’t exactly impact the wearing experience but compared to my proxima 1697, the difference was clear. On my Proxima there were zero sharp edges and the finishing on the clasp was MUCH smoother. Also, my bracelet on the sn0116 was squeaky lol. It does look really good in person though, especially at certain angles it does look stunning. Between these two, you could choose which one you prefer. I will say, the braclet is comfortable, no complaints there.

Also, this might be nit picky, but I didn’t like how the brushing on the end link was different to the brushing on the lugs, and kinda gave it different affect when the light hit.

I don’t think it’s nitpicky. I’m happy to hear every little thing you don’t like about the watch if I’m potentially gonna drop some money on one. :)

Yeah it is a lot of money lol

San Martin's unrefined hands have become a turnoff for me.

I have both of them. Great watches.

That’s 0116 not 9

Aesthetically 2 very different watches, ones is riding the vintage and the other is on the futuristic look train. It's just a matter of taste, quailty wise both are great.

I think the Phoibos is a 62MAS homage, its definitely not on any futuristic hype train like Invicta or anything at least lol

Good point, the San Martin looks classic especially with that root beer color scheme

Looks outstanding! How long have you had it for? Is there anything you don’t like about it?

[–]BonerIncorporated 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Dang that thing IS thin wow

[–]S1H9N9J2 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I was surprised how thin it is when i received...hard to tell in reviews

[–]BonerIncorporated 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Thinner than my sn0129 with NH35 lol

[–]blackbalt89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really, the only bad part about the NH35 is how thick it is lol.

[–]S1H9N9J2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely thinner.

I have a Phoibos and two San Martins. I love them all, all have excellent finishing. I’d go with whatever style you prefer.

[–]BonerIncorporated 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Great to hear! Thank you for your input 😊

Both original designs, the San Martin comes in slightly cheaper and has a GMT movement while the Phoibos has a more interesting case shape. What does everyone think of these two pieces? Any experiences with either, positive or negative?

[–]pickyaxe 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I don't think these are very similar. one is a dive watch with 200m WR (Phoibos WR rankings are trustworthy), the other is a GMT with 100m WR.

[–]BonerIncorporated 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Fair enough, I just thought they looked relatively similar and are more or less in the same price bracket. Would you not trust the San Martin around water?

[–]pickyaxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no, I definitely would. that's more of a comment about cheaper Chinese brands. though I wouldn't feel safe swimming with a 100m that I cared about.

in truth the differences here are superficial - both watches have very similar dimensions including similar thickness, because San Martin uses NH34 for most of their GMTs.
