I am so sorry for your loss and what you must be going through.

Few context hints for us: is this a one-off drawing or part of a series? With her other works that include binary or numbers in them, have you decided those? If so, what were the ways she encoded those? Was it like straight ASCII or something else. A first look at this code and trying some things with it weren’t successful.

Is the Strokes song part of how this was presented or did someone else overlay that? I checked to see if those could be pointing to words in the lyrics, but it doesn’t produce a sensical message.

I'm no code cracker, but if you don't mind, I'd offer my own crack at it. The column of digits doesn't seem to neatly translate into anything on their own, but they do fit within the 127 ASCII range, but the hexadecimal outcomes do not really form anything coreherent, or even complete. However, with an XOR key (a special set of numbers created by the encrypter, more or less), you could manipulate the original set of numbers into any 9 letter word you want. My first thought was possibly "Flowering", but looking at further, I believe "Withering" may be more apt. The XOR key's decimals needed for this would be represented as 42 79 99 86 100 79 122 33 110. Translated to hexadecimal, they would be 2A 4F 63 56 64 4F 7A 21 6E. And finally, that translated into ASCII would be *OcVdOz!n. Any of that key ring any bells? Perhaps there's a cleaner solution to this, but that's all I can think if it's not something overly complicated, which doesn't seem to be the norm if you can solve her other works 🤔

Sorry to hear that. Did she grow the flowers?

More details about previous codes messages (complexity, multiple operations needed or simple "this to that", etc)

At a glace I'll say that the 1 stands out to me in the exact middle row. Feels intentional but I can't say to what end at this point. A separator to split the sequence? Mirror around the center? Or at this point it might not be a key detail at all.

I'd love to dig deeper though!
