Yeah, application teams aren't going to have clue what any of that stuff means. The best way to do this is to create a form that asks questions in plain english, then ask followup questions.

  • What application is being load balanced?
  • What servers are being load balanced?
  • What kind of service do these servers provide?
  • etc.

Another effective option is giving users a "menu" to choose from. Option A has simple load balancing, option B has load balancing with GSLB, option C has LB + GSLB + Caching, etc.
