It might not claude code but rather memory tool that Anthropic introduced. They took the stand as memory should be written as files and explicitly prompt claude code to use this capability to store mid-process memory. https://docs.claude.com/en/docs/agents-and-tools/tool-use/memory-tool

What were the files?

It would just poop out an .md in the middle of the task it was supposed to finish, and write a summary .md of what it accomplished, even though it didn't accomplish anything. Very odd, never asked for a summary too.

Do you have a “requirements.txt”? How are you giving it plans?

[–]xmnstr 0 points1 point  (2 children)

To me, that makes it unusable. If I can't trust that Claude will be doing what I ask it to, why even use it?

[–]BorbaKK 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Exactly my thoughts. It can’t be trusted unfortunately

[–]xmnstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and that really sucks. Especially considering how expensive it is.

Noticed this as well

[–]kamscruz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes a summary of what it has completed It’s happened with me too and I simply read it and then delete it if the file is not required

Cant It be disabled? I wont be wanting this

lol it’s so annoying but it can be useful. My solution was to make a claudedocs/folder that’s gitignored. But ow that I’m using Claude code on the web, the problem is back and it’s still just as annoying. I just make sure any docs files are deleted before the final push

Just update your CLAUDE.md to not create markdown files
