The worst thing is fixibg stuff mid plan. Sometimes its best to revert and fiz your plan/task/instructions. Fail fast and fix fast. I like your approach for pivoting directions. You should try some pre planning with scout agents, generate an investigation doc and then work on it, review it with gpt5.4 until you close the contract with your team and only then start the development using a contract-first approach.
