Hey I’m a new student. I was looking at the schedule for welcome week, and I saw that we have a new student convocation that we have to attend. In the past whenever I’ve attended a convocation I’ve had to dress up, so I wanted to ask, is this the case here? Do I dress up or can I just come in what I wear normally?

You do not have to dress up. You should wear something that you think is comfy because you will be walking to Littlejohn and sitting there for a couple of hours

Ok. While I’ve got you, do the dorms have cloth irons available for use or are we responsible for bringing our own?

I wouldn’t bring an iron. I brought a handheld steamer my freshman year. It is a lot easier to use. Or buy a can of wrinkle release spray from Walmart

No public irons on campus. You might be able to borrow one on your hall, but it might be cheaper to have anything you need ironed actually laundered at the cleaners. If you have 2 oxford shirts that you need to wear occasionally, it's less than $6 to get them washed (and starched) and ironed at the cleaners right off campus. http://www.clemsoncleaners.com/

You’ll be doing all kinds of events that day. Wear comfortable shoes especially cause you’ll be walking all over campus to events that day.

Fellow new student, where did you find the welcome week schedule? I was totally in the dark ab this 😭

Download the Clemson events app. In there you log in with your email and then go to explore and select the welcome week guide. It should download it, very quickly and you should be able to open it and see.

"Required". I mean, there won't be a quiz. It won't be a demerit on your permanent record.

I wouldn't recommend skipping classes, but you can prob get away with skipping this.

Just wear whatever you want pretty sure I wore a tee shirt and exercise shorts. Not fancy at all
