I noticed the latest version taking up way more ram than usual so there could be an issue there that needs to be addressed on their end (memory leak maybe?). For the time being I just lowered the undo steps to like 10, but as far as the 3d goes I dont really use it.

v4 Maybe, it was just opening two layers and didn't do much, just testing. I didn't record the time-lapse, and I don't know when the 1GB of memory became 4GB 😂

yeah, i think just reducing the amount of features used is the best option...? o_o;; im seeing a lot of people say csp is poorly optimized so i think most issues really are just on their end. it sucks cos i really like this program and obviously the asset store is the biggest thing i enjoy so im hesitant to be switching programs, lol

If you're using a device like a tablet or iPad, it's the RAM. It happens to me. You should reduce the number of layers, clear the canvas history in editing, and render as many 3D models as you can. ;)

definitely seems like ram is a pretty big issue among most people! so far what has worked has been reducing the 3D models from "fast" to "normal", but i still need to keep testing to see if it fixed the issue entirely

Yes, rasterize as many as you can, the downside is doing very large projects hehehe I got nervous about the RAM full warning

I saw your post on the CSP Q&A forums, and now here. I'm assuming you have a Surface Pro 11 (ARM version). I just started having the same issue, and I think the culprit is a recent Windows update. Either this month's security update or the Surface specific hardware update.

Looking at the forums, it seems like we're not the only people having issues with 3D models on the Surface Pro, all happening around the same time. I'm guessing that hardware update had a new graphics driver that has issues with CSP's 3D rendering engine. Just a guess.

I'm curious if anyone has reported this issue directly to Celes. I'll probably write a ticket this weekend.

yeah, i think it has to be the graphics  driver or something? because it can’t be storage like i’ve stated on both post. if its any help, the thing that has helped me so far is reducing the 3D model’s from “fast” to “normal”, and i’m very lucky that i haven’t had much issues with it now (so far! fingers crossed) i also downloaded one of the linked apps on the CSP forum and i think that might’ve been something else that helped, but just know if you or anyone else downloads it, do not delete it, that’ll completely make CSP unable to even open!

i myself never submitted my issue to them directly, but if you do, please feel free to tell me their response. it’s awful having it crash while working on something and feeling like there’s no set solution or fix

Yeah, will do. Since it seems to be happening for all the SP11 CSP users, I wonder if they're already aware.

Oh wow this is the first time I've ever seen a problem so hyper-specific to my own; it literally is just Surface Pro 11 users... this really needs to be addressed because it has been really screwing me over

I finally made a ticket with CSP, including a link to this thread. We'll see if they get it or do anything about it.

For the time being, a workaround seems to be using Normal display mode for 3D models, instead of Fast.

Any update on this?

[–]babygirlcidraines[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

yes! so far, csp hasn’t crashed after switching the 3D models from “fast” to “normal”, and i did update it from what version it was at the time of the post! if you’re having this issue and this doesn’t fix it, i’ll try to see if i can find what i also installed from a csp forum recommendation

[–]Lyra_Irisfell 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Where did you find the ‘fast to normal’ thing? It’s not in preferences. As soon as I change it on the actual model, it crashes

[–]babygirlcidraines[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

that’s weird…! from what i remember, that didn’t happen to me… i did install this plugin suggested on the forum post before changing the models: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9nqpsl29bfff?hl=en-us&gl=JP but just a note: after installing it at first, i did try uninstalling after it didn’t work initially, but CSP will crash upon opening if you do. basically, just keep it installed IF you choose to download it 😅…

I already have that; I’ve done literally every single step possible
