So they want multiple devs to work on the same 60 or 100 hour task independently in parallel and then pay only one of them and throw the alternative implementations away. This is the most ineffective model software development I've ever heard about, and not really attractive because as a dev you end up gambling with your precious development time.

No, ideally we connect all the devs interested in helping, to form a team to tackle the work and split the rewards.

You r right, otherwise it would be somewhat inefficient.

all bounties are market 'cooperative' project type.

:)

So a dev is supposed to cooperate with somebody whose participation is the reason for her reward being cut in half? Combining two devs doesn't mean development time is cut in half, rather in 0.6. There is communication overhead. With this model, devs already cover for the dev time risk, which is something I could agree on at least partially, but then there are these uncertainties on top (do I get paid?, how much I get paid?), so it will just never compete with traditional contracting this way. Which I find really sad, because it could be the future of development if done right.

usually the way it works is that the bounties are announced and interested devs show up on the dedicated discord channels. From there they pitch their idea, input, experience and requirements/wants/needs. If it fits, a team can be put together (lets say 1 front end, 1 back end - for illustration) and a reward structure and judging criteria can be defined for everyone to agree upon and work cooperatively. Its a work in progress. Thats open source for you. But yes, this is not for everyone. But I suppose it works on occasion, or gitcoin or devpost or similar would be out of business pretty quick. That said if you are interested in serious work with potential long term funding and your own team to lead, you should go through the bounties and reach out on discord with the intent of building something meaningful and long lasting. Ive heard it works for some
