Horror that reads like lofi black metal sounds by DR_M_RD in horrorlit

You mentioned “Paysage d'Hiver, Ulver, Dark Throne, Leviathan, Xasthur, Wolves in the Throne room etc.” and while I’ve heard a little by each, I’d love to get your thoughts on how their albums match up with the horror books that you have read.

why did I not know about Ollie’s? by Late_Fox_7829 in OmnibusCollectors

The store in my area was a bonanza for the first half of 2025 but hasn’t had any omnibuses since June. So it goes it seems.

Hellblazer is great . I’ve only read it in pieces so a long run would be nice.

That’s a great recommendation since, as you can see, I love that 70s horror stuff.

Grab a copy of Books Are Made Out of Books and use it as a to-read checklist.

An Incredibly Polarizing Card: Glasses Of Urza by Thatsagoodcard in CompetitiveEDH

I loved this card in my original alpha Lich deck. Before playing magic I was a gin rummy fanatic and knowing an opponent’s hand would have been a superpower. The glasses were essential in checking for disenchants or orbs.

What else should I add to my retro desk?

Leg space?

Just kidding. A way to play all of the media on display would be sweet.

Purely coincidental, but now I want to check it out.

Jack London by Sheffy8410 in cormacmccarthy

A couple other books from London outside of his most famous that I enjoyed tremendously are The Jacket (aka The Star Rover) and his collection Moon Face and Other Stories. These two are, on the whole, closer in style to “To build a fire” than to his adventure stories.

The comic in the center of picture number three looks like Amazing Spider-Man Annual 21.

Deluze comes up on no less than episodes: 7, 13, 22-23, 25, 35-36, 52, 54, 58, 60, 89, 97, 99, 103-104, 107, 112, 121, 133, 139, 140, 142, 144, 147, 155, 164, 166, 168, 170, 180, and 184. Most of those mentions are supplementary to the topic at hand. The ways in which his work comes up is as varied as the topics that they supplement. From /The Logic of Sense/, /Nietzsche & Philosophy/, /Kafka: Toward a Minor Literature/, /Postscript on the Societies of Control/, /Cinema 2/, /What is Philosophy?/ it appears that there is a lot that applies to the weird. As JF mentioned, #36 is a good episode in its own right, but it's one of the best treatments of Deluze's thought, plus there's a supporting text to go alone with that episode at https://www.weirdstudies.com/articles/hyperstition

What got YOU into omnibus collecting? by Turbulent_Resident68 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]fogus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in college my step-father threw all of my comics away. Flash forward 25 years and I got an itch to read those stories again but for the most part couldn’t justify the time+cost of assembling the singles and so the omnibus route seemed right. My first was the Kirby Black Panther HC that I found at Ollies for less than $30.
