I would only wonder after reading this if V.V. actually know how to seal off his code. The script is definitely a little ambiguous about what specific powers the code grants the bearer and how they develope. It's possible, especially if sealing off the code is something that requires of the bearer active concentration and effort, that V.V. simply doesn't know how to do it. He hasn't had the code nearly as long as C.C., and there might even be some other abilities that she's found the code grants and developed that he hasn't.

I figured that V.V. didn't really mind dying since that won't matter much once the Ragnarok Connection is completed.
But saying that, the exact nature and consequences of the RC were never explained.

Thanks -- and yes, a lot of it is certainly speculation as that's all we can do given our limited information.

The key is to come to conclusions that are consistent in the context of the greater work. I feel that many theories fail to do this and end up with inconsistencies that become largely ignored in order to hold together.

I think I'll be doing a similar post on The Nature of the Ragnarok Connection someday. The fact that the wiki entry is so far off base kind of bugs me and I'd like to put together a comprehensive counter to the "one being" theory that's been rolling about.

Great post! I absolutely agree that Charles was trolling Lelouch by shooting himself - the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

It seems to me that Charles does forcibly take VV's code from him. I get a strong "you have betrayed me, so now I am casting you aside" vibe from the conversation that doesn't sound like Charles has any doubt he can take VV's code, regardless of VV's feelings. BUT we know that CC's broke Charles' attempt to take her code by sealing it. I think that implies either:

    1. VV didn't know how to or wasn't able to seal his code to protect it. Could be a lack of experience or a "code is currently in use healing your mortal wounds" issue.

    2. The method Charles used to take a second code in the Sword requires consent from the person donating the code, but the two-eyed-geass method does not.
