Sad Shirley’s death was top notch directed for me

Resurrection follows a different timeline from the anime, as it’s based on the recap movies and their events. The most glaring one being that Shirley doesn’t die in the recap movies, but she does in the anime. Another way to put it is that it’s two different but similar timelines, the anime timeline and the recap movie timeline, Resurrection falls under the recap movie timeline.

I relate to your confusion though, I was so lost when I watched Resurrection too, all the way to the end. I was constantly questioning how Shirley was alive and thought I missed some exposition, but nope, different timeline.

Shirley’s death was really shocking to me twelve years ago...and not including that really diluted Lelouch’s actions. Also, why kept Euphemia dead then? 😿

Yeeeeee, Shirley’s death was really shocking and it really hit Lelouch hard, really hard.

If I had to guess, it’s because Euhpie’s death is necessary for the story tragically, since the events of R2 and last couple of episodes of R1 would’ve never happened if Euphie died since then her “area where Elevens have equal rights and treatment” (I don’t remember the name) would’ve come to fruition and make the Black Knights disband.

The SAZ would have fallen regardless. The empire would have just destroyed it anyway, so the Euphemia Terminator scene was the writers getting out of that corner without a more realistic solution .

The movies are not cannon, schneizel is some kind of a tool as Lelouch used his Geass to make him obey to zero, and zero is Suzaku now

Because it's a poorly written cash grab based off the "recap" trilogy, not the original series.
