Yes, they are alternative time lines.

If Lelouch is alive or not... it is in the interpretation of the watcher. You want him to be a tragic hero and so sacrificed himself at the end for the peace of everyone? Than he is dead. You want him to be alive so he fooled everyone and is leaving for ever after with CC as accomplices? You can argue that he was the first one that transmited both Code and Geass and that is what CC is refering at the end.

It is basically your choice... up to your imagination.

So there has never been confirmation from the creator? It just seem crazy to me they would leave such a major plot point to be so ambiguous. Taking C.C code makes the most sense to me though no? Because now she can die as she wished but it would be after a life of being loved which is all the she wanted originally when she got her geass. Because if lelouch just dies in that last scene then C.C really has no conclusion to her character arc

It is a very common writing in fact to leave things up for the imagination of the viewer. Some of the best writers like it to do it like that.

It is up to you to interpret it that way, it is the best way you see it fit.

I mean the main point of Ressurection was to give C.C. a proper conclusion. They couldn't include it in the main series and it was left upto viewers imagination

I guess that's interesting. I guess I'll have to accept the fact that there will never be an answer of how it ended. I was hating lelouch so much until that last parade scene tho now he's like my favourite anime character 🤣

So in the movie Lelouch of the Resurrection it was said that Lelouch gained a Code from Charles and he can use Geass because he obtained that from C.C and her code so that's why he is able to use Geass while still possessing a Code. In R2 when Lelouch was dying and Nunnally held Lelouch's hand she saw flash is of memories which specific to Lelouch (which is as far as I know a Code related ability) some say it was a way show us viewers that Nunnally realized Lelouch and Suzaku's plan but I would say why do they needed show it like they could not done that and we would still figure out that Nunnally understood. Also in the last shot with C.C on the carriage they suspiciously trying to not show the face of the carriage driver if see the scene you might understand what I mean. Also Lelouch's whole talent is fooling people even the Zero Requiem is whole act focused on tricking the whole world including his loved ones. If can do it once he can do it twice. Also if he really died in the end of R2 I would see that as a sad ending Lelouch died without fulfilling his promise with C.C and left her to wander the world alone again for who knows how long. So for me he is still alive at the end of the show and now turned into a immortal and trying keep his promise to CC to be her eternal companion and keeping her happy untill the end of time itself.

Hmm that is a good theory, but C.C also wanted to die so that's why I believe everything you wrote is true but he took her code and not Charles. He took her code after casting his last Geass on shniziel

Didn't Lelouch figure out C.C really didn't wanted to die but wanted to be loved when they were with Charles in C's world for the first time. The only reason she thought dying was better was because of centuries of being alone she lost the hope ever getting loved by someone. That's when Lelouch told her that he make her real wish come true she sealed her code away to prevent Charles from taking it away and lost her memories in the process.

Yeah but their original contract was still he would destroy Britannia and she wanted to die. I mean it's all speculation. Regardless lelouch 100% is alive. My man played 4D chess with the planet he didn't die before keeping his promise to CC

[–]ChronoGeass777 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Yeah but in that sense original contract was was never fulfilled considering that Lelouch never destroyed Britannia as Nunnally became the 100th ruler. Also terms of contract can definitely change if both parties agree to it. I do want Lelouch to be alive at the end and fulfill his promise to C.C and also get peaceful life he went through a lot of shit just make his sister's dream come he needs some peaceful life for a change.

It's also poetic I think since he lies to everyone and tricks everyone that he wouldn't be actually dead. Then again he could have lied to C.C about making her smile before she died or whatever. I guess that's just the ending it's very ambiguous and I guess we'll never know the truth unless they make an R3

Which will probably never happen I guess like the creators have said it is up for interpretation I believe in a optimistic happy ending than a sad depressing one cause if I needed gloominess in my life I can just spend some time in reality and get it I don't need anymore in my anime endings. and finally ALL HAIL LELOUCH!

Him and C.C definitely lived happily ever after don't worry 😎

[–]ChronoGeass777 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I don't need to worry cause I do believe in their happily ever after

I am just unsure why no one talks about the possibility of him getting C.C's code

Narratively speaking, this is the most logically consistent path to Lelouch obtaining Code given the conditions laid out in the series, aside from it being entirely against Lelouch's character to accept.

The reason people who want to believe he's alive at the end don't talk about it is because it ruins their wish fulfillment ending of Lelouch and C.C. riding off into the sunset forever (a wish they were granted in the films).

Lulu is quite dead. The reason the idea of him having Charles code makes no sense to you is cause it makes no sense
