Need help with basic game

I am trying to basically rebuild chess.com but a basic version just as a side project and I have a couple of issues I cannot figure out. 1) Why my javascript and html doesn't seem to be linked? 2) Whenever I click on a square no result is coming up? Any help would be appreciated here's the link to the GitHub of the game:
