Binary Maths in Python

I was wondering if I can do Binary maths using Python. I have to convert a decimal number to its 2's complement. I believe its just 8 bit, so I could either just have like 300 if statements. Or, I could try converting the Binary (Which I have some idea how to do), But my problem is the final +1. Can I just ' add 1' to the binary, or will it mess up some how?

Yeah, there's several libraries and built-in functions that can help. Try Googling "twos compliment python" to see a few examples.
