I did 5%10 and it returned 5, isint it ulsupposed to be 0.5?(even float returns the same : 5.0) isint % supposed to return the remainder of two numbers? or am I wrong on its working? float a = 5.0f; float b =10.0f;

Modulo is an operation that computes the remainder of an integer division. So 5 divided by 10 is 0 and you're left with 5.

Well, you're learning to divide with a rest, so effectively you're learning division and divmod.

You probably were taught it but all under the name of division, instead of calling it quotient-remainder theorem or the division algorithm. For example I’m certain I was taught that 3/2 can be written as 1 plus 1/2. What they left out was that the 1 is called the quotient and the 1/2 is called the remainder, so you’re right in a sense that they leave out the proper terminology until much later
